Santana Update with exciting news!

Postby pryme » Fri Feb 15, 2008 8:57 am

So ever since I've read up on Brumation thanks to this forum I've realized how typical Santana's behavior is of that. He slept for 3 days straight at one point. He got up a couple of days ago and drank and ate some egg. Also I've unplugged my heating rock and bought another heating lamp for Santana. I didn't realize how dangerous they could be. Anyways thanks for the advice, it's been a big help. Here's a picture of Santana sleeping. :) Sorry I don't have more pictures but the camera broke :(

So now for some very exciting news. :D My skink family will be expanding this weekend!!! :ohyes: I'm so excited. This skink is a suspected female and based on her coloring I think she's a silver tannibar! I found her on craigslist. Her owner has taken good care of her for about a year since he bought her from a pet store (she's suspected to be two years of age). However with a new job he won't have time for her. I'm adopting her for a small adoption fee. I can't wait!! Here are some pictures. I plan to call her Isis. :D

Good to hear you are learning a lot on the forum and cutting out some potentially dangerous aspects of husbandry! :D

Congrats on the new Addition! I don't think you can sex a BTS from coloration, so I wouldn't count on Isis being a female, but your primary guess it probably the best you can do until you see plugs or "sex by behavior" when put with a known male/female.

At any rate, Isis is very good looking and a BIG GIRL! Might need a diet..? :) Beautiful animal, though...love the short tail!

By the way, love the "peek-a-boo" shot of Santana! I really enjoy seeing my Indo wake up and do that just before his basking lamp turns on! :)

:woo: Glad life with Santana is going well. When you get the new one, it needs a diet. I'd like to see more pictures of both your skinks when you have em.

The previous owner had suspected Isis to be a female. I have no idea as of yet. I'll have to see how she? interacts with Santana.

I have noticed that Isis probably will need a diet. She'd definitely a chubber. Hopefully Santana's a chubby chaser haha. :D

The previous owner didn't know what breed of blue tongue she is. I'm guessing a silver tannibar by the pictures. What would be your guess? Anyone?

In shed (or bad pictures) so we can't see the colors, but I'm not so sure that's a tanimbar... :chin:

My first guess was a Fat,due to shed,IJx?, but what do I know? Do you intend to breed it with your Northern? If not it doesnt matter what it is or what sex it is, right?

Curious. I'm not getting the Tanimbar bit. I think Leigh's on the trail with IJ cross.
