Hi,

I ended up buying one after all.. so here we go:

I am worried though.. I bought him on Thursday and we were supposed to take the ferry back home on Friday, but because of a bloody storm everything has been delayed from Friday to Sunday (for now).

So I am stuck in a hotel room with this little guy. I am keeping him in the box you see on the pics. He has a water bowl and a heat mat controlled with a thermostat. He drinks water and had a giant poop just now. He ate some veggies right before I bought him.

I got the oppertunity to buy an IR heat lamp today. I am hoping to make a ad-hoc heating spot for him and see if he might eat something. I fear its a long shot though. The poor little guy must be stressed out of his mind :(

So I am asking you my fellow BTS keepers for a little assistance.
Should I just keep him in the small plastic box with some water and the heat mat. Or should I make some sort of small cage in a corner of the hotelroom with an IR heatspot? I know this is far from optimal, but I am working with what I got. I hope I can get this little fella home alive.

Thanks.

Really cute.

I think he will be fine until you take him home. Maybe you could go out and buy him a banana or somthing to tie him over ... =]

Where did you buy him to? How much was he?

If you can't offer him a spot to bask at the proper temp for three or four hours I wouldn't feed him. He will not be able to process the food and it will rot in his gut. How many days do you anticipate having him on the road? One day without eating will not hurt him.

Hi,

I have some mealworms along on my trip. I just checked to see if he wanted some.. he swallowed 5-7 of them. It was alot of fun. He played with them in his mouth a little, spit them out on the table and then grabbed them yet again and ate them. Haha.

BTSes know when theyre high up right? He is on crawling around on this table now with small tree logs, a heatmat controlled by thermostat and that IR light producing 36 degrees Celcius on a small ceramic dish I bought earlier. He loves it. He climbs all over the place.

This guy is alot more different than Odin I must say.

He has some small scale damage near the nostrils. Probably from some "disputes" with his siblings perhaps? I hope he will heal with time.

I bought him in Hamburg, Germany for 200 bucks.. Major league money, but we just had to have him :)

I put up the basking spot awhile ago and I`ll keep it up for a few more hours so that he will be able to digest the food. Dont reckon 5-6 mealworms will take very long.

Good plan. Keep an eye on him on the table. Most bluey's think they can fly and will just go over the edge. Silly little things. :D

Nah man, no name yet. He goes under the alias of "Odin 2" temporarily.

I was planning on getting the "sick" one from my previous thread, but I couldnt recognise him amongst the others when I came back to buy it.

As some informative lads told me in that thread, one of them was a Merauke. I have no idea what Odin 2 is.

Its a Merauke? Nice :)

He is extremely curious. Isnt defensive at all. He crawls around all over the place exploring. Great little BTS. I look forward to getting him into his new cage at home. I wish I had money/room for the others in the store too.. poor little ones. Pet store hell :(

I wouldn't bother feeding him, that way he wont need to bask to process the food and you wont get a pooh stick, he'll be fine for a few days( a couple of months even) without grub, where are you now and where are you heading, he might just as well have a little brumate( if northern hemishere) for a few cool days,as long as he's above 60F he'll be fine. Carefull with table tops ,some know they're up high but can be too stupid to see the danger and plop off the end(this could end in an injury) good luck with the journey, he's a nice lookin little fella.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????
