attempted sexing / breeding question

Hi everyone!
so I put my male and suspected female together again today to try again and see what happens. My confirmed male has on every occasion has proceeded to display his hempenis and expel a sperm plug every time the other skink is added to his pen. Is this a tell tale sign that he is responding to a female / male skink or just coincidence.
the attempt didn't go so well... the suspected female tolerated him for a moment and then lunged at his face. She (he?) got my thump (I had gloves on) and the force she had was amazing! I definately do not want to ever get bit by her (him?).

Some female (including mine) if nothing happens will lung and bite the male. Then soon following that the male with either run or sometimes he then quickly lunge back and bite the female and breed.

interesting.. every time the female lunged at the male I just seperated them quickly... maybe I should just hang back a little more and see what happens..

ok another question... ha ha
I paired them up together but this time put a sock over the "female's" head since she was being really aggressive. The male definately tried to mate with her (is that a sure sign its a female ? males don't try to mate with other males do they ?)
but now I have a new problem.
the male couldn't get a hold of the female. I think she's too *ahem* plump. He couldn't get any skin to hold on to, she just kept slipping through his grasp and he continually ends up grasping her by the tail because he can't grab hold of anything else. ummm hmmm I don't really know what to do now. She doesn't eat a lot, I know I don't over feed her and heck she just came out of 6 months of brumation so you would think that she wouldn't be that overweight. She's always been a big girl (not sure why).

I'd say just keep trying. The fact that he's trying to get a hold is a great sign.

With my male it always take him a while to get his grip. Sometimes he will grab the tail. When he realizes this is not a good grip he will let go and try again. Maybe you just need to give them a little more time. I know it took my guy a half hour to breed the first time. After that it has all been done with in 5 minutes of the introduction.

thanks for the encouragement! I try to let them go as long as possible but I am also worried about stressing the female out tp much (she is my little girl!) maybe I will try for some AM attempts today and see how it goes.
thanks!

Show him some of the successfull breeding photos from the site, maybe he needs a few pointers in the right direction,it must be hard learning with no one to talk it through with hahahaha.
