As I posted in one of my other topics that I had problems with getting my skink to eat veggies and fruits. Because the stupid breeder(and I say stupid because he really was. I'm glad I saved this BTS). The breeder would feed nothing but crickets and pinkie mice(or rats don't know which one he used).

So far the last couple days I've had her she wouldn't eat any veggies or fruits. But last night when I went to turn off her basking lamp she had eaten the kale I put in there. So this morning I chopped up some apple, kale, and carrot and put it in her cage and she gobbled it up.

I know I should have some meat source in there. but I didn't have anything at the moment so today I went and bought some superworms and frozen pinkie mice. I don't think I should have a problem.

Sounds good! Glad that you were able to changer her her habits so quickly! :) Don't forget that you can also add a few dietary protein items that you might eat yourself for dinner...cooked chicken or turkey and similar items...even scrambled and boiled eggs are usually readily accepted. No need to buy "specialty" items like pinkies or superworms unless you enjoy watching them eat those... ;)

oh ok. But the turkey and chicken can't be like greasy right. I wouldn't expect a skink to like greasy food.

Turkey and chicken (I use the white meat) can be chopped and simmered in a small amount of water. Drain, cool and feed. :D

oh yeah...forgot to mention that it probably shouldn't be seasoned or oily/greasy...mostly if it is boiled, grilled, or similarly prepared then it should be ok.

So, greasy would probably not be so good...

Pinkies are pretty fatty if I remember correctly. I use F/T pinkies as a treat, not as a meat source.

Pinkies are great if your bluey needs weight gain for brumation or even coming out of brumation.

I used Pinkies to get one of my easterns fatter - although it didn't really have the effect i wanted it to - but she's cool now - could still do with a tad more weight but I'll take it easy.

As with evrything greasey now and aagain isn't too bad, just not all the time, chicken or beef/mince as long as it's not seasoned is fine
