Eye film?

I just got my bluie about a month and a half ago. Its a bright yellow/brown indonesian. I've never had one before but I did all my research and it's seemed to have formed what looks like film over the eyes, it has formed over a few weeks. I wasn't sure what it was, so I didn't touch it, or do anything and today it had completely covered its left eye, so I splashed some water on it and it cleared up. It almost appeared as if the whole eye had been sealed over by scales (even though that's not the case.) Does anyone know anything about this and/or can help me with avoiding such?

dunno what you're talking about. O-o
Will wait for pics. ^_^

When you said eye film, I thought you were referring to his eyelid >_< They kinda look like his eyes are scaled over...are you sure it's not just his eyelids?

he shed last week sometime, and as i said it got like this, i guess, well, around shedding. but it was worse on the left eye and didn't go away, seemed to form over night and i put some water on it and it went away. but its still there...

Is it possible to be unshed skin? whenever chomper sheds i give his face a massage to make sure all those scales come off. I'd say inspect and see if it is shed that hasnt come off and then rub it off gently. But wait to see what others say, just in case

so this formed over night , since the shed or over the last few weeks?

Well now looking at his right eye it's starting to form like that, but not completely covered. This started to happen around the shedding now that i think about it. but he's done all over his body. can the eyes shed later then the rest??

he can't open his left eye unless i put water on it to clear it away though it doesn't seem to fall off completely...

it hasn't seemed to effect him except that he's a little disorientated.

i think you need to take him to a herp vet,

It looks and sound like an incomplet shed, make sure you DONTtry and use any thing other than warm water to ease the issue, can u supply another image of the other eye,...

I think it's a mean looking infection. Reminds me of pink eye.

Use a warm, damp cloth and gently rub the eye for a bit. Don't use much pressure, just wipe it a bit. See if any shed comes off. It really looks to me like it's shed build up. Try the damp cloth for a few days, and see if you can get any shed off. If not, book an appointment with a reptile vet and get it checked out.

Wetting it would have caused the shed to become less opaque I believe, which would explain why it keeps returning. If it is stuck shed (I'm fairly certain) it shouldn't need a vet visit (unless you can't remove it). However if not treated it could potentially cause damage to the eye.

And while you're getting the shed off the eye, use the cloth on his feet as well, you can rub at those a bit more than the eye. Just as a precaution against stuck shed.

I would try some human grade white petrolatum eye ointment. You can get it in the drug store ... it's made for persistant dry eyes. There are no drugs in it and it will coat the area and stay on to work the shed off without applying any pressure. Ingredients are 80% white petrolatum and 20% mineral oil. Put a dot on each eye and leave it. Best to take out the substrate and keep the skink on papertowels for a few days till you see how things are going. If you don't see a change within a day or two I would head to the vet.

Get it damp enough to come loose before rubbing,it looks like stuck shed, maybe more than one layer. What do you use and how close to your skinks head are his lights?
