A little Mitch Time... :) (BTW, is his breathing normal?)

Postby jasjmm27 » Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:24 pm

This is a video about 15 minutes after Mitch woke up and wandered onto his basking rock...notice the "heavy breathing"? Is that normal?

A few pictures of Mitch...

A common sight...Mitch sleeping under his shoebox top with some body part hanging out! This time he happens to be on top of his food dish...he likes to move his hiding spot wherever he feels most comfortable to sleep!

Initial grape chomp! I handed it to him and he opened wide to chomp on it!

Mmm, enjoying that first grape!

Time for the next one!

Awww ... such a cute face. Not sure about the breathing in the video. Could there be one or two failed attempts to yawn? He looked fine once he was awake.

Shinglebacks can go for $2000-6500+ from what I have seen (for an individual). At the moment there are no papers for them, only the assurance of trusted breeders...There are some individuals that are working on high value animals, i.e. getting them papers...I think that is a great idea, though that does not exist at the moment...

hmm yes for an animal that is limited in numbers there papers would be a good idea also feasible. and dam thats a lot of money for a shingle. when are you getting it a mate?

do you have many people over there trying to hybridize them?

Hopefully many of us (outside of Aus) here can start to provide papers for the animals we breed. I think that that would be a great idea, I really like the type of documentation that Andrew Seike has...if I breed I plan to have something similar put together.

Yes, it is a lot of money...

Mate...not sure I can find a mate for this guy...Konowi's are probably the most rare of the Stumpies outside of Aus, as far as I can tell...? Hopefully in the next 5 years or so the few keepers I know that have pairs will have some female offspring they would be willing to part with! (I'm sure I would have to promise the first born to them, though...) ;)

No one I know is trying to hybridize high value animals (outside of Aus) like the Shinglebacks, Centralians, or Westerns....I could be wrong, though...
