Postby luckyblue » Mon Mar 17, 2008 12:00 am

What is a better alternative for substrate than kitty litter? After the mites on the bubs im not real keen on using kitty litter.

I dunno? Any ideas?

Cheers

Well, I use Kitty Litter made by 100% recycled paper and havent had an troubles with it.
There is also aspen shavings but that isnt sold at most pet stores here in melbourne.

Im not quit sure, it really depends on what bluey you have and there natural environment.
Some people use bark, wood shavings (like that wooden looknig stuff for mice) and plenty more..

Im sure there are other forums members to help you out.
Sorry i couldnt be of much help. Goodluck.

recycled paper kitty litter here.

there are 2 good choices - Breeders choice (little pellets) or Dr harrys - Like carefresh. I've used both and am currently on Dr harrys.

Has or does anybody use that fake grass stuff?? I've seen it in the enclosure of one of our local breeders.. and just thought maybe that could be good? But let me know your reasons if you think its not.

Also excuse my complete stupidity but carefresh???

i dont like the fake grass stuff because it long and pointy but my gf has marine carpet in her snakes enclosure godo nice looking stuff if you have 2 bits one in the wash the other int eh enclosure., people wouldnt use it for blues thought because they like to give them something they can hide under or in.

Its alright using the fake grass in one area ,for say, feeding bathing that sort of thing, as long as they can burrow or hide at the other end.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????
