So I bred her today for the first time with a buddies male. How do I know that the mating was successful?
He bit her, and did his twisty thing but there was no shaking and it was really fast. And when I put him back in her cage to see if theyd do it again she got defensive (like maybe she knew he already did his business?)
Please let me know how I can be sure. I have him in a seperate cage until tomorrow morning. Then he goes back to his owner.

Thanks agian.

I know that they usually mate multiple times and if it was as quick as you say he may not have completed the act.

But, i've never bred myself so this is just based off of what I've read.

just hang on, the forums bin slow today. someone with experience in this will come along. pm zach he can help witht these things. i would reccommend giving the gal atleast few hours rest between matings a day is probably better, but i haven't bred anyone before so don't take my advice to seriously

I think a day is about the usual.

and how do I know if its successful?

The only way to know for sure is when the babies come out.

yes sounds abit to fast for a successful mating, your best giving them a days rest and trying again the next day,or at least wait a few hours, the only way to know it was successful is wait to see if she produces bubs,u will notice there behaviour changes as the babies are developing, and the longer into the pregnacy the breathing totally changes from the norm, its longer, deeper and they appear tired and distressed, which is understandable with the amount of bubs they have,so my suggestion is try to give a break especially if the females getting narky and reintroduce the male a few hours later,or the next day if your mate lets u keep it a few extra days
