Blotched?

Postby Reptilestop » Sun Apr 06, 2008 12:48 pm

Is this a blotched? http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=34&de=559696

I'm just trying to learn about all the different types and was curious! If not, what do you suppose it is, just a random hybrid? This person looks like they are trying to milk as much money as possible out of an animal they know nothing about

Ok, thanks for clearing that up! I think I see the difference now. That skink is pretty, not $500 pretty, but good looking none the less

It's been posted twice before, once by me and the general consensus was that it was an IJ that had unique back patterning. The Skink has been for sale for quite some time now but no one is likely to buy it at that price especially since there is no way to tell if it's a pattern that might breed true or if it's just a screwed up skink.

Not too many people are going to spend that much on an animal unless they plan to breed and get back that money.

I'm still not entirely convinced that its purebred. I don't know what it could be mixed with that would produce that kind of patterning, unless its a multiple generation hybrid, but its possible. Either way, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for something with no history.

Exotic Pets actually does not own the skink. They had it several years ago along with a true blotched and sold it to a person. This person now, for some reason or another, has to sell both of them. So the petstore is selling them for the customer for a fee (cant think of the term for this practice). So they are trying to sell it for the price the person wants for it (plus their fee). I might have the email i got back from them. If so I will post it.

Well several years ago they had these listed as a Blotched pair. They sold them. Now several months ago, they listed them again, seperate as different species. They havent listed the Blotch for sale recently, so I am assuming (we all know the old saying) they have sold it.
