Shinglebacks

Postby mom22wins » Mon Apr 28, 2008 9:43 am

I was wondering if some of you who own a shinglebacks could tell me what their temperment is like. Are they more agressive than a Centralian or maybe a blotchie? Are they readily available or expensive and hard to obtain from a breeder?

From what I hear, you're going to be shelling out about 2-3,000 dollars for a shingle in this country, and they're hard hard hard to get!
I want one sooooo badly though! They're completely adorable.

Yeah, $2000 is about the lowest you will be paying...most are now starting to sell them for $4000+ nowadays...that is IF you can find any available in the US.

There are a three breeders, or those attempting to breed, that I know know of. I do know that there are MORE then that, just can't locate those others...

Yeah, the only Shingles you might find for under $4000 will probably be 15+ yrs old, lone males, or both...

Mom ... I gave up on looking for a Shingle. Can't invision spending 4k or better for a skink. I wanted one really badly but after months of research the price was just to great for me. I think I would just as soon love another Northern for under $200.00.

I just got a new job with a Pharm company and my salary has nearly tripled. I hope to have enough saved up in a month's time for a pair(gas, utilities and food are still ridiculously expensive!!!). I would love to have a breeding project I could really sink my teeth into, something real challenging. I think Shingles are the way I want to go!! And if I'm ever really rich I would kill for some Multis like the ones I fell in love with at Greg's when I got my Kei. My eyes are already peeled and Ive spoken with a few people already, so hopefully I find a pair eventually!!!

dang you're lucky blueyboy ;O

That's me in 6 years: looking for a shingle because if I make it out of pharm school I'll have enough money to do so >_<

In six years, if you got a breeding proj for your shingles, lemme know!!! XD
I'd definitely want to buy a young shingle from someone on this site ;D

Just come to Aus. Shingles for everyone. :-) I've only ever had one but mine was very docile. Most of the ones I find in the wild go ape initially and within a minute or two of handling are quite happy. Its a great feeling watching them wander back off into the bush.

yeah - shingles are pretty cool. Generally docile - but as scottsaid - they start of as if they will tear your arm off, but once they are in the hands - they mellow out fairly quickly.

I've seen shingles going for $60 - but normally I see them going for anything from $80 - $120.

I know you know the answer to your own question, but did you know you can get done for harrasing wild life in its natural habitat (I think thats true) just by picking them up.
