So today i thought of something...
I'm waiting for someone to have northern babies, but then once they do i'm still gonna have to wait longer until they can send one!
About how long do most people keep babies until sending them out? I know everyone is probably different, but whats average? A week? A month?

Depends on the breeder and the skink. Generally a couple of weeks to make sure the baby is strong enough and eating well. For northerns it shouldn't take too long, tannies probably take longer as they're smaller to start with.

depending on where you live I would check to see if there are any reptile shows in or around your area. You might luck out like I did and get a nice baby northern for a descent price and you dont have to wait for shipping.

Or ... you could simply be patient -- as hard as I know it is to wait for a new BTS, especially a baby!
-- and get a guaranteed healthy animal from one of the reliable breeders on this site.

I was going to say nearly exactly that.
Look at it this way, why wait for the best that your money can buy, when you could have a lucky dip at a show.

Keep reviewing the care sheet and forums to educate yourself while you wait. It will be here before you know it. It's worth the wait for a baby from a reliable breeder.

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with everyone on here. Its rough playing the waiting game, but it'll be worth it in the end. In the mean time, you might start getting the set up ready. I like to have all of my things for new pets ready to go long before they get here. And it keeps me busy while I wait. Plus I get lots of time to find the perfect items to complete my critter's new home!

For us, it depends on how big the babies are. If they're born tiny, it will take longer for them to become healthy and strong enough to ship. If they're born larger, they can usually ship within a couple weeks. It also comes down to individual babies. Some grow faster, eat better, acclimate to people quicker/better and thus would be able to ship faster. On average, I'd say we wait about 3 weeks.
