I think he looks a little bit more Merauke. . . the Indos can have really black lines between the scales on their faces.

I'd say Indo. - no speckling on the forelegs, lines on the head - 2 very prominant indo traits.

He's a nice little fella!

Check out the second picture in the thread ... speckles all over the forelegs. This guy is Merauke or IJ. Very cute little guy Jason. :D Congrats on your new buddy.

To MY knowledge (which is limited with these species) indos can have speckling UNDER the legs - but generally Meraukes have the speckles all over the forelegs. These pics show the tops of the forelegs are solid where the underneath of them are speckley.

That does not appear to be a T.g.g to me. Its either a T.g.e or an IJ.

IJ. The broad head, the colors, and the thick bands are IJ trademarks.

Indo's have distinct lines between the head scales, this guy have barely any. Indo's have thin bands, this guy has thick bands. Indos have a smooth looking head, this guy has a bumpy head. Indo's have mottled, 'dirty' bands, this guy has distinct, 'clean' bands. Not Indo.

Merauke's have minimal/no flecking on throat, this guy has speckles. Merauke's have speckles on top of forlegs, this guy does not. Merauke bands have a secondary color inside the bands, this guy has solid-colored bands. Not Merauke.

IJs have large, broad heads - check. IJs have thick, colorful bands - check. Go look at other IJ photos, very similar. IJs come in a huge amount of colors and such, but this one is fairly typical. IJ.

Of course now that I've written all this out, someone is going to come tell me I'm wrong. Hit me, go for it. :D I still would not call this anything other than an IJ.

What she said. IJ, hands down. I would absolutely not call this animal an Indo. His dark isn't dark enough, bands are too thick and clear, head is too wide. The only thing that might indicate indo is the lining of the scales on the head. And even that can be found on some IJs.

I can't quote any species links in htat blue box over there, but I feel as though the animal has a indo look to it, despite the fairly thick bands.

All that other hoopla is all relative and there are always exceptions. I feel as though you can't always plug an animal into a formula and have your solution right there, sometimes it just takes a good eye.

I feel like I have a fairly decent eye, but please more opinions.
