Just wondering what everyone thinks breeding different species with other different species... Like eastern cross blotched etc.
This is the first time I've tried to make a poll so don't laugh if it doesn't work!

Yeah I did! I was too pre-occupied trying to get it right (I found it a bit tricky but I know now) and I forgot, I voted now though. I voted for no.

Yeah i voted as long as they tell them that they are Hybrids that would be ok....your all going to hate me, but i dont really care if people x breed them....we have been doing it for centuries with dogs and cats...so why not reptiles??? I do agree though that they shouldnt be released to the wild or we wont have pure breeds anymore...but what are the odds someone is going to release their Captive Bred Bluey??? We all know it would die out there.....I would love to own a few Hybrids...especially Eastern x Blotch.....

Interbreeding blue tongues is the start of this.

I bet you are against the breeding of blacks and whites too.

That was meant to be a humerous comment, it's not like we have a handfull of BTS in this country guys, and here's a thought - maybe if hybrids became so popular, morons wouldn't export wild caught blueys.

Listen, I'm not bashing you, it's simply an opinion.
And human love is quite different than lizard love. (as far as I know)

i voted yes

i voted yes
i think as long as it does occur naturally, and i have heard of numerous shingleback x easterns, as well as a few eastern x blotched found in the wild.
while im not going to try to deliberatly cross breed, im not to bothered if it happens..
we all need whatever loving we can get
of course being responsible with these hybrids goes without saying and we must be very careful not to contaminate natural populations..

i voted no. but i do believe like danny said that they do cross breed out in the wild...... in the wild you cant control. but i can and will control mine........

contaminated natural populations is what will eventually happen if people deliberately cross breed and sell babies. Because THOSE babies will be bred, then THEIR babies will be bred, and it makes a chain of hundreds of crossed animals.

It might occur occasionaly in the wild but that's natuaral, pet BTS in captivity isn't natural and if people started breeding different species in captivity it would happen a lot more often than in the wild.
Also, it's different with dogs and people because no one buys people (well some people buy slaves but that doesn't count) and dogs have been human pets for aslong as anyone can remember but BTS haven't and BTS would be much more at risk of contamintion to the point where most of them would be hybrids than what dogs would be.
Interbreeding implies two different species

Good post, tiliquagirl!
A really crucial difference that some people here seem to be overlooking when using domestic cats and dogs as an example of interbreeding is that all dogs are the same species and all cats are the same species. Easterns, blotcheds, shinglebacks, etc. are NOT the same species. The comparison is not a valid one.
