BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Okay, well apparently Piper is a male. As many of you know she (I mean he) and Phoebe are named after characters from one of my favorite shows - "Charmed". I was hoping to have 3 female blueys (Phoebe, Piper and Paige) and possibly a 4th bluey of either gender (still probably named after a Charmed character). So now my plan is a bit foiled at the moment. I can't decide what to do about his name. I feel a little bad still calling him Piper, but some think I should keep it. I guess I could only name my females after Charmed characters and come up with something else for any males.

So I'm open to suggestions.

Believe me, leave it as Piper...First of all, the name is cool. Second, I had the same problem one time... I bought my first leopard gecko at the age of 12... At the time I couldn't tell if it was male or female...The clerk at the petstore said it was a male so I called him Leo...When I finally learned how to sex leopard geckos, I realized he was a she....I tried changing her name but I had been calling her Leo for too long and it was confusing...so I got back to her old name and now she is called Leo!!

You've got kind of the same problem here!!

I like Cole in particular but also like the name Leo with Edward....I think it'd be cool if you changed it though cause it messed with your theme! lol

Sorry I'm just OCD about things like that myself, and it sounds like you're slightly disappointed that you now have a boy named Piper so just go for it and change it!!!

Plus you haven't had him for SUPER long yet so it probably wouldn't be so bad....I mean if this were a few years down the road I'd probably say keep it just cause that's what you're used to BUT you've only had him for a couple months right?! That's not too bad!! Take the plunge! hehe You can still have the charmed theme he just gets to be one of the boys!!

You don't want to confuse him, particularly if you want him to produce an heir at some stage....he might be confused as to what to do if he thinks he's a she

I have never watched Charmed, so I don't know the characters. But when you first got your Indo and named it Piper....I thought, what a cool name for either sex because I had heard of Piper once for a girl and once as a boys name.
I think you should keep the name Piper but if you decide that you would rather change it....I would have to agree with Edward. I would go with Leo.

I'm with the Leo voters. Save the Piper name for another girl to maintain your theme. And if you go with Leo, (as in the Leo the Lion) you may consider a Wizard of Oz theme for future critters, giving you a cool choice of names for male and female critters, (i.e. Dorothy, Aunt Em, Tinny, blah blah blah).

Just my opinion.....I could be wrong......

I think I'll have to vote for Cole as tha new name. As someone pointed out, Cole was Phoebe's beau, even if he was a bit conflicted as to which side of the good/evil continuum he was supposed to be on. Besides, Tiger's new skink is a combination of dark and lighter stripes...so...Cole

The one where he is laying his head on the ball is my favorite!

I put in his bio (in my profile) that he loves to play basketball. I'll put that ball in one spot and later find it in a totally different area - and not just moved horizontally to the other side of the cage. I find it in places that he would have had to move it to the other end of the cage and around some deco. So he must be 'playing' with it!

The other day he had one leg on the ball and was propped up above it - looked like he was dribbling with one leg. But I couldn't get the camera on quick enough before he moved!

Zen, I thought about naming him after a pacer player - but I'm so stuck on the Charmed thing since it was my plan all along. I need to find him a little basketball that is the color of a real basketball. I don't him to further question his masculinity with a pastel yellow basketball.

You know, he really does look like a she. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a BTS look more like a girl than Piper does . Can we pretend evidence of Piper's masculinity came from my Jubby instead ?!!
