BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Ok this is not about Bajo this time. Kirra now weighs 1kg and probably still gaining it. Never lost weight or had it stable. He’s not physically obese or anything. I noticed he’s shedding a bit more frequently than usual too, normally he sheds twice or thrice a year. Is he having another growth spurt? He turns 6 years old today. I’ll probably have to measure him again. Last I measured him he was 56cm long and so far just by looking at him he is probably up to 60cm long now.

What’s the largest and heaviest can an eastern bluey grow to?

He is fed once a week, on high quality/grain free dog food mixed with various greens, veggies and flowers, I give him an amount slightly bigger than his head. I haven’t been offering him a lot of fruit lately.

Are you sure it’s a male? I’ve got that issue with my females. I can’t even leave food in their cage as they will eat it all at once and constantly if I let them.

Yes he’s 100% male, he dropped sperm plugs and usually gets those restless stages after brumation where he won’t eat and glass surfing non stop.

If he is constantly gaining and not overeating the only thing I could think of to do is try and reduce calorie content by adding more vegetables as suggested. Mine seem to love peas and carrots. I've never had this issue with a male, even extremely inactive ones. Possibly a check by a qualified exotic vet just to make sure everything's ok. Fat boys are rare in the skink world.
