Strong Twitches of my BTS

I dont really know how to describe it much better than the following.
My baby/juvenile eastern BTS sometimes has this weird motion that doesn't seem to be controlled or concious. It is best described as strong twitch which goes through the whole body. It is not a sneeze! It appears to surprise the skink and is not linked or caused by my presence or a noise or anything. At least I can't pinpoint it. It does not happen very often, maybe once a week or so.
The skink is pretty shy in general but looks very healthy and behaves normally as far as I can tell.
Do you have any idea what that is or what is causing it?

What do feed them by chance? And if so, do you supplement calcium with D3?
If so, keep an eye on it, and if it seems to not stop or get worse, I'd consult a vet.

Does it happen more while basking? I’ve seen it happen a couple of times in all my skinks. I believe it’s normal because they all did it and they’re healthy. No clue why they do this though.

I feed high quality cat and dog food, insects and some greens. I add calcium+d3 once a week.

yes, at least when the skink has basked recently.

Hi there,
I would bet this is simply that your skink was napping at the time and has woken up suddenly - I have seen this happen many times. Skinks can sleep with one or both eyes open which usually throws alot of people off as to what is happening.

I've seen many odd motions, some similar to a snake pushing down food...most often happens during rapid growth periods or gestating females. After a large meal sometimes they'll do some contortions that could make a keeper nervous if not familiar with this. With babies and juveniles I'll call it 'growing pains'.
