Help:Closed Eye

Postby ziggyyah » Tue Feb 15, 2022 1:45 am

I know blue tongues tend to close an eye but I noticed this week my lizard has kept his right eye shut more often and when he does open it, it seems like he's trying to keep it open (squints slowly) and ends up shutting it again. I can't see any crustiness or fluid and it's not swollen so what could it be? I did also start feeding him a new brand of live crickets last week so could it be from that?

One of my skinks had the same issue, kept his left eye closed but shown no other symptoms, no idea why but it did resolve on its own. I just assumed he had a blocked nose from stuck shed because one of my older skinks was in a similar but worse situation recently and showing similar symptoms to RI and he got better as soon as the shed was removed.

Thank you for your response! He's still eating well and everything else is normal so I hope it'll be ok.
