I just got a new blue tongue skink, hes about two weeks old now. He's been very active n happy. Keeps pooping on me tho, Idk if that means anything but he only really poos n pees on me lol. He's been very strange tho since I was giving him the wet cat food from the store that they gave me for free n I had it in a airtight container, not thinking, I didn't refridgerate it n had it there for 3 days or so in the container after the original packet was opened. It had a nastier smell so Ig it went off a lil bit? I got wet dog food with veges in it n the same meat. He had a lil bit after not eating that whole day but refused to eat it initially n later went back to it in his enclosure. He hasn't eaten today n yesterday at all. I have tried n left stuff but nothing n he's still pooing. I can also see his spine lightly so yeaa

He refuses to eat n he is pooing regularly but his poos r light brown n soft with lots of uric acid n less blobby normal urate. Its long n mushed. He sleeps a lot but is then active at night time so Idek what's going on

He could be sick from the cat food that was potentially off?
I didn't get a heat lamp since the lady said nah dw cause the hot summer weather. But I will get one now. Also can I hook it up to a casual desk lamp with a plastic nosel brim thingo? Is that alr like it won't melt it or cause any troubles? Cause I have a metal one n proper for the uvb 5 one

He has a parasite?

He isn't hot enough?

He is full from the decent amount of food I gave him a few days ago?

He seems to trust me since he never hisses if he knows its me n snuggles up to me n closes both eyes n moves around all over me so I have no clue n I'm stressing cause I love im sm

Hi there, first what kind of baby skink is this? Second new skinks can get stressed VERY easily. What is your temps/humidity/set up like? Did you give it time to adjust into your home before you started to handle it? Defecating and urinating on you is completely normal and it is doing so because it feels stressed/threatened. I recommend leaving your skink alone for a bit. Only feed, change water, and spot clean as necessary. Then, I would offer canned cat food or dog food at this time every day. Some top brands are Merrick's cat food called grammies pot pie. Also dog food is Natural Balance Gobbler Cobbler and any other brand that has chicken puree or chopped chicken. Some of my skinks go nuts for salmon based dog foods. Keep trying but also give this skink space.
