BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

My eastern blue tongue lizard Bartholemew won't stop sticking his tail in the air. He only does this when he's on my carpet outside his enclosure. I don't know if I should be concerned or not. Help and advice would be much appreciated

They usually do this when they are about to defecate/urinate.

Yes that's what I thought yet ill have him out for a while and he won't defecate. so I thought maybe he needed to go but didn't feel safe enough to defecate but as soon as I put him back in his enclosure he puts his tail back down.

Could be a male mating thing. Hard to say exactly.
