Enclosure Question

Alright. I just got a new baby ordered. First skink but I've done snakes for a good while now.
At first, we are going to be in a 10 gal just for quarantine. So about a month. Just my standard reptile procedure
I've found a LOT of conflicting stuff so:
Usually for reptiles quarantine in a 5 or 10 gal based on the size of the animal (never needed to go bigger) and then transfer into a bin with under tank heat because my house is apparently a humidity nightmare for screen tops no matter how much foil tape is over that screen. I swear I have even cut holes that perfectly fit the light fixture and all my moisture escapes lol
Now I am open to a pvc enclosure, but I would want to wait until I was sure if could move into that because a 4x2x2 is a considerable amount of space, and I just feel more comfortable with gradual upgrades.
How do skinks do with under tank heating? Or should I just look into a 20 gal tank or something?
