nah, i'm actually referring to lamb or beef. I'ii change my description.
I ran out of dogfood so I cut some lamb off my dinner. I debated whether to cook it or not. I didn't, and Maxi loved it. He ate more tonight then he has in weeks.

I feed Störung Calf's heart, sometimes human meat (human flesh!) as well, but only when i happen to find some.
I got the tip (with feeding heart) from a very well known breeder here in denmark, so i presume it is okay for the skink, as he has been doing it for three decades.

If they are getting people food I cook it first. Do you cook the heart?

This has been discussed a lot in the past, and most of us do not feed raw meats because:
"Do not feed raw meats. While it's true that blue tongues eat some carrion in the wild, our processed meat is a little different than the natural way of things—hormone injections, unsanitary slaughterhouses, you name it. It's definitely important to cook out any weird bacteria or contamination. Especially since cooking it is so easy."

Thats true, I worked as butcher for two years... Not fun... But the point his, even if we try to be as clean as possible...there are still tons and tons of bacteria....

Are frozen mice any cleaner than frozen chicken?

chicken probably is because some meats that we eat are irradiated to kill the microbes, this isn't done with mice, and freezing doesn't always kill bacteria, it may just put it in a state of suspension and it could continue to live after coming back to a temperature where it could live.... i guess that answers the question..

I've offered raw meat a few times and he wasn't interested except once he had a small piece of raw chicken. Haven't bothered offering anything raw since.
On a side note, I read somewhere that oats are good for them. Has anyone tried cooked oats (porridge)?

You know, if you read this quote, it sounds like you are feeding people to your skink. Not that I would necessarily have a problem with that....

I include uncooked oats (oatmeal) every so often. It was in the bible.
