Random question, but I've currently got my little indo on a 12noon-12midnight light cycle. Is is best to not take him out or handle him during the time that the lights are off, or does it not matter?
I guess he's sleeping a lot during the day when i take him out, but I didn't want to mess with his bio clock or natural sleeping tendencies.
Night Handling ok?

I'd get them up earlier, IMO. Blueys (in the wild, here in Aus) tend to be out morning and late afternoon. The rest of the day and night they kip.
For example, mine are on a 6am-6pm light cycle currently, shortly to change to 7am-6pm cycle since we are in autumn here and the days are getting shorter although the weather during the day is still around 28C, but I still bring mine out at night since I work basically a 9-5 job.
I guess they are more 6am-9pm (roughly) cycle. I bring them out when I get home (5pm), feed them, let them have a wander round the house and then put them to bed usually between 8-10pm. On weekends they spend daylight hours outside.
However, if having them on that cycle works for you and your lifestyle, they will get used to it.
Being as it's nearing winter here, mine haven't yet made up their minds as to whether they want to brumate or not, but usually they are all up and at em within a half hour or so of their lights going on.

12PM-12AM is what Rollie is on, granted he's lazier and a bit more skittish in the darker room, but he's fine with it. I just wait for it to get warm in the day, we hang out until dark, he goes home for food and then to bed.

I'm sure that Rocky, Ernesto and Chuckie are all girls even though they have boy names and I refer to them as boys! I've just never ever seen any boys bits and I've spent a lot of time looking

I'm the same as Kylie. I refer to mine as boys (don't like girls!), although the only true boy I know of is Santos. So not sure who the tranny is out of me and the kids
Vet reckoned Jub was a boy (he stuck a metal thing up his bum and said probably a boy), but unless he's .... ahem ..... small .... I've not seen anything to indicate he's a fella.
Although he did have an, I think, unprovoked, attack at Ralphie once, and he doesn't seem to want to brumate this year (he was fast asleep this time last year), Conor reckons it's because he went to sleep last year in hopes of a shag come spring, but since it never eventuated then he won't bother this year
My gut feeling is that Jub and Ralphie are girls and Santos is a boy, but I will always refer to them all as boys unless any of them have bebbies

Right, I just wasn't sure if I should be avoiding taking him out and enticing him to be active at the times his lights are off and it's his "night"

Confused as usual!
It's ok, I'm still not sure on Sunny! Some are just easier to sex than others. Chuckie at least, HAS to be a girl by now! Return to “General Discussion and FAQ”
