BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Pink tongued skinks (Hemisphaeriodon gerrardii previously: Tiliqua gerrardii)

Does anyone have any info on these guys? I'd love to purchase a pair. Can they be sexed as sub adults? I saw these in a book that was given to me awhile back and thought they were neat especially because of their prehensile tails. I'm not much of a monkey tail skink fan but I love these guys. Anyways any info would be great!!! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi JL, i keep and breed these guys.The females have a rounder heads and males have a flatter boof head.Because they have a relatively thinner tail than a bluetongue you can sometimes see the hemipene bulges in males as well.

Well hi guys. Didn't know you kept and bred them Pike. I have one in my hair as I speak - he is a hair man. Because I'm dark blonde, I think he thinks my head makes the best substrate around. Pinkle is not quite 4 months old but he is growing like mad.

JL - my Pinkle is absolutely lovely - fiesty but never hisses or bitten however, as other member here will testify, he was a tad young when I acquired him.

He's in a little house atm but soon to be in a mansion as soon as it's got all the mod. cons. worked out. I think he's a male but I don't care.

Pike, you may be able to help me with more info on my Pinkle. How long have you been breeding them?

'Nother double post. Pike, I'm a native animal carer and had never had a pink before. I've rescued lots of blueys but I do not keep reptiles except for Pinkle. I estimate he was born around 22/12/06.

I'm currently looking into pinks BIG TIME! I found a local breeder with TONS of them!!! He's expecting somewhere around 100 babies this season!!! He said florida is perfect because he can keep them outside year round with no problems. I'm going to get a few myself but just doing the research. He's been a ton of help. Anyways...thanks.

I have two pinkies. Love them just as much as my blueys.

Kinda everything. My Pinkle is a honey - very fiesty, very tame and my baby (plus my Cocker Spaniel).

I've been doing well (I think) but I always need to know more. I'll send some new photos soon but there are a few here that you can check out - just look at my posts).

Any info you can pass on would be hugely appreciated. He's eating (apparently) cause he's getting longer and fatter. He is nothing like the blueys I rescued - but kinda the same.

He loves a romp and frollic and I get no hissing or biting. He is still mindful of his surroundings but very much more snake like than a bluey but still the same, if you know what I mean?

No-one knows about these dudes, so any input would be wonderfully appreciated.

I did keep them but got sick of having to maintain five separate enclosuere for seven animals.
I eventually sold them to finance a pair of hand made boots for my wifes birthday. Fun while I had them though and very easy to maintain.

No web site, he posted some sub adults on ks.com. They are some of his holdbacks he thinks he can sex. He's got a deal setup with some reptile farm in naples FL that buys all of them from him, trying to find out who it is! Why would you need seperate enclosures for each one? Wouldn't one big enclosure work for a colony?

If you want to control breeding activity, you need separate enclosures, just like other blueys.

Also, separate enclosures cut out the chance of aggression between skinks.
