Are these foods ok for blueys???

Is it ok to feed your bluey pizza ham? How about Normal sliced ham? What about any part of the pig?
What's the verdict on Cheese???
Are mushies ok for blueys too?
I would personally think mushies are cool cuz they grow wild and well blueys eat pretty much anything they come across. These are just a couple of things I've wondered about but never gone to the trouble to find out - seeing as I have a heap of ham and mushies left over from Pizza night, and well I thought I'd throw in cheese for the hell of it, It has calcium!

I don't know about cheese or mushrooms but the problem with ham is all of the chemicals that are put into it when it is refined and packaged. They put in a lot of preservatives and various things that are probably not too healthy for your bluey.

See that's what I was thinking. I'd say real ham may be ok, pork should be fine (probably make their poop runny).

I'd say no to pork because of the reasons mentioned and also because of the high phosporous, sodium and high fat.

Dairy just doesn't seem that 'natural' to me so I'd personally pass on cheese, etc.

I've used mushrooms{not magics} and he loves them, I damp them with a mango scented calcium spray for herps, he tends to gannet them down and struggles to swallow really big dry chunks, I think they're toxic to beardies but not blueys, the cheese I think would have way too much fat content to use, and pigs get fed all sorts of crap as a diet so I wouldn't use it, just my two pence worth

I think that's what I remember hearing and since not as much is known/researched about blueys I decided to treat them the same.

Yes - at least the food charts do...which are largely based off of information on beardies.

I don't buy/eat it so I don't know for sure, but my guess would be it contains (just like lunchmeats) salt, nitrates, and/or preservatives, etc.

for whatever reason, Mamma has eaten mushrooms out of our backyard. She doesn't usually eat stuff back there and it really took me by surprise. She didn't seem ill-affected by them.

I have mushrooms growing inside the enclosure and have no problems other than the loud music at full moon keeping me awake. Police say they have no jurisdiction over native animals holding rave parties.

I heard that mushies were like lettuce and are made up of mostly water. - thing that got me there was that they are such a dry food.

I have found in lists of toxic plants for lizards "some wild forms of mushrooms"....now what forms, I don't know. Mushrooms (as well as organ meats..I think someone asked about these) are also a high purine food - which are foods that highly recommended be avoided for those with gout, etc to avoid kidney related illnesses/diseases.

Just think of all the junk in packaged lunchmeats and add all the stuff usually bad about canned human foods.....I generally avoid canned foods and packaged lunchmeats for myself and certainly for my animals. If possible I look for cans/products that are organic, no salt added, no preservatives, no nitrates, etc.

Spike has done that too. I'll pick every mushroom and he manages to find the one little one that's super hidden that I missed.

My intuition is telling me poisonous mushrooms are poisonous, and edible mushrooms are edible. There's guides out there with color pictures that will tell you if mushrooms are edible or toxic/psychedelic.

Now if bearded dragons, for example, are sensitive to even standard store-bought mushrooms (white, portabello, shiitake) that's one thing, but I've heard a few folks on the forum mention they have fed store-bought mushrooms to their blueys and had no ill effects that I read.
