Rice Hulls As A Substrait?

I was browsing through past posts, (BTW you guys were much more leniant about OT threads back then) and I came across a reference to rice hulls being used as a bedding material. Thoughts?

I can see why they'd be useful as a substrate purely from the point of view that they're a natural, small substrate which is also easily digested (I assume) so won't cause problems with impaction etc.
On the other hand I can't imagine that they'd be very absorbent? Also I'm not sure how easy it'd be to get hold of...
Obviously I've not tried it myself though, so it'd be interesting to know if it's suitable.

Availability not an issue any feed store would have it. Absorbacy was said to be excelent thats why i'm wondering.

I'm hoping someone else tried it I'm too in love with Quigs to risk anything if no one else has tried it though I might.

Im not really familiar with rice hulls, but I would worry most about mold if the water were to spill or something.

Exactly, I'm sure there's not much danger but usually better safe than sorry,
they are soft, absorbant, Cheap, easily available I'm just tryin to find someone with experiance with it so I can be sure theres no major downsides
