BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi guys,

I have several random questions to ask pure out of curiousity.

1) Is the white stuff that comes out when they pee residue poo or is this supposed to be like that? And I do mean small bits of white, nothing else.

2) When you take your skink into the garden are they allowed to eat any of the bugs roaming around? I've seen quite a few pillbugs and various beetles scuttle around, but kept an eye on Lil incase she can't have 'm.

There were other questions but I've forgotten them now

Here are some pictures of her venturing out for the first time. At first she kept on legging it towards any shrubs, but after 15 minutes she calmed and actually had a good look at her surroundings.

awwwww,lil is a sweety,love her long tail,nice pics,im thinking becareful that no one uses pesticides in your vacinity,snail bait ect ect,other wise i cant see any probs,if it concerns u ,which it does me at times ,just try not to let them eat it,better to be safe than sorry,lol,but mine have eaten beatles,snails,ect ect,even go a bit of dried doggy doo if its around,ewwwwwww,they obviously not to fussy

yeah the lady who owns the front garden uses slug pellets, so no snails or slugs for lil.

good thinking 99,lol,id suggest not letting it eat outdoors then,keep a watchful eye on her as if she comes accross a snail she will go for it quicker than u can say no,lol,im paranoid about baits and live around a market garden that poisons snails quite often so dont let mine eat them these days,when i was a young fella we used to collect hundreds of snails from this ladies place up the road and tip them all in the outside bluie cage,was like throwing a fish n chip to a pack of seagulls,lol,i think id be safe to use them but just that uncertainty scares me so sticking with the better safe than sorry princapal,just hope they dont kill the poor wild bluies that seem to flourish around here,cant be as they are all over the place,lol,and some seem to be resident,seem to see a few of the same ones each year

the white stuff is quite normal,thats urates,a good sign when u see that with your bluies poo,as apposed to a runny mess

that's good to know as well actually, but the thing is when she wees (and she did so today on my black skirt, that's why I noticed) there are a few white bits in there too, so I was wondering if this is residue poo being flushed out.

As for pesticides and slug pellets, they are a right pain for wild life. there are many alternative options for this, but no one seems to be bothered to put in the effort. it's a shame.

it's the urates, the liquid part is all water, so the stuff that the kidneys remove from the bloodstream comes out as the white stuff, poo is dark.
