Just got this one today. Its 2 years old and very pretty. Is thie one a an IJ also? Has a nice pink hue to its back, even though its about to go through shed.

Rollie just shed too; it's funny, only his tail turns pink when he sheds.

I swear I thought the 8 inch baby I had was big until I got this monster. This one is almost as long as my arm and almost 600 grams. But its sweet as can be which I love. My wife bougth near crapped today when she saw it, sompared to my other one....I had a good laugh: )

I had an extra block of coco fiber bark so I put that in cause its shedding and I was trying to add a little extra moisture to its cage. Its only on one half of the tank, the other is news paper. I'm moving and when I get moved in to my new house with my reptile room I have a cage Im working on building for it out of what was suppose to be a bar. Its 8ft long, 3 feet wide and I don't know how high I"m gonna go yet.

since I don't know what the sex is I guess. never thought of it. Do you guys have any ideas what the sex is by looking at it?

Looks great!
Appearence wise, I'd say male based on the big head, thick and long tail, and slender body. Feel the base of the tail to see if it's squishy. If it is, it's surley male.

Unless you are an experienced breeder, sexing BTS by those sort of characteristics is unreliable.

he just got done shedding and the reddish color on his back went to orangish now. I've been having him out in the sun taking him on walks. I think hes liking it also cause he just sits there and doesn't try and run at all. With him being 2.5 year old would he have much more weight to gain or is it hard to say? Hes over 500 grams now but he eats like a pig. I was just curious what weight I could be looking at as top out weight?

I figured that but I was curious what the average weight was if there was one. Since you guys tole me my new one is a male do you think you guys could take a go at this one I have? Its only about 4-6 months old but I was curious if you had any idea.

One word of advice, We can all have an OPINION on the sex of your blueys, however there is only a couple of ways you can know for sure.
This one is by far the best - WATCH IT TAKE A DUMP!!!!

When male blueys take a dump, their hemipenes generally pop out and leave behind Sperm plugs. Sperm plugs are hard to find, however - if you watch them take a dump, you will see the hemipenes pop out. Mind you, they don't Always pop out, so keep watching. If after 5 dumps you haven't seen anything shoot out like some alien member, you probably have a female. - Also - the whole tail base thing works well, you will be able to tell if it's hard or squishy (compare to the midsection of the tail), just don't go squeeze too hard. Whilst feeling behind the tail, look where you are squeezing. If you have a male, you will see little buldges in the soft area under the scales - but I cannot stress enough that you need to be gentle!!!

The other way is to cool both of them over winter and put them together and watch what they do. If they fight - seperate them - and you more than likely have 2 males. However - if one goes to bite the other around the midsection - don't be alarmed, this could infact be a breeding attempt. Look at the breeding videos Zach has on the caresheet to see what i mean.

Also remember that just because you never see hemipenes; it doesn't mean you don't have a male. Only one of my males shows his regularly, and one has only shown his ONCE in 3 years. (Guess who :nono:
