BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

hi all

this seems kinda odd to me... but earlier today my step father was cleaning up the back yard and came across a bluey... this is actually a common sight for us but the thing im finding a little puzzling is it appears to be quiet young... i mean less than a month old being its appoximately 12cm in length... its the begining of winter here in sydeny... i thought breeding season finished in jan/feb
any comments

its a cute little eastern... didnt like being caught although it was nescessary to move him out into the park at the back of my house to get him into some shelter away from my cats

It seems that it is not uncommon for blueys to be born at different times of the year. DeadEye recently found a baby bobtail and it's mother which was very sick. What sort of condition was it in? Could it have just been a small one?

it looked like it was in excellent condition... not a scratch on him/her... looked like it was finding plenty of food to eat (we have an abundance of snails, grubs, and insects all around the yard)...he was hiding next to a concrete slab in my backyard in under the grass... im still fairly new to blueys but it looked like a youngster, similar to mine wen i first got it.

its perfectly natural,well im not sure for sydney,but in melb its possible to find small newborn looking bluies in spring,obviously late litters,that dont grow much before the shut down for the winter,i have found also that they can have babies as late as late apriland as early as early january,there isnt a standard time they have them,so not out of the norm,also u have to remember wild bluies dont have the pleasure of perfect weather and constant food every day so can take alot longer to grow,especially if born when its cooling down already,nice find though,thanks for sharing

Yep and in W.A some say the drought has thrown the cycles out a little ..Iam not a weather man ...but Find it hard to walk away from a 90 gram new model .With Kookaburra,s watching from the coolabah tree ..In the pocket
