BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to post some pics of a shingle back skink i found on Rottnest Island when i was going to school in Fremantle, Western Australia nearly 2 years ago (i arrived there in august of 2005 ...wow long time ago). How you enjoy!

This is where i fell in love with shingle backs. One of the herps i wanted to see most while in OZ. Hope ya enjoyed em!

What a corker! You don't get to see many pics of Rotties, they're very rarely found in captivity even here in Aus.

I have some pics of a king skink from Margeret River W.A. that i will have to upload, and also some of a thorny devil i will post a little bit later once i get them all uploaded.

nice greeny rotti,are they actually held privatly in aus,ive never heard of them being in the private sector,only asper and wa rugosa,oh and kingskinks are awsome,would love to see your pic of one,thanks for sharing the pic of that stumper

Ok guys got the king skink pics uploaded, this guy was hanging on the screen of an Expensive! winery screen door. While everyone else was trying the wine i grabbed the skink!





If he can stick his tongue out at me why can't i do it to him!


and here is the Thorny Devil i caught while on a trip up the west coast!

I love thornies! They have the best pattern on their tummies. They are near impossible to keep in captivity but. There was a great article on them in a previous issue of Reptiles Australia magazine.

Love the one of you poking your tongue out at the King. He doesn't seem too impressed with your efforts but

nice youn kingy,they r a pretty fiesty skink,like a bluey on roids from all accounts,similar to land mullets but not as shy,heard they give quite the bite to if they get a hold of u,definate future addition for me,pike breeds them

Yea mate, go for it, it was taken by a buddy of mine who gave it to me since he was clearing some hard drive space. No worries!

Yes i live only about 12 mile from the Konowi, and just love there green color . Around west end is a great spot to see them or garden Island .

dead eye would that be like Fremantle? thats where i went to school while i was there. I never got to garden island but did go to penguin island which didn't have any shingles but was crawling with king skinks.

Yep he,s in that horse shoe shape , dont give me any grief possie ...Or il gum ya ..Really they leave a bruise but its preety well all bluff .I got bittin once and rode home on my bike with it locked on my arm .Thats were we learned dunk them under water they let go ..There was story,s the limb would rott off or never heal .All bull dust tube feeding ive been bitten more times than ive had hot dinners. Sure they have some pressure bleeds a bit .Fish have bitten me and done more damage ...They are ORSM rotto shingles , smaller than main land cousins no big ones .

Yere Mate freo or you can catch a ferry across from the coot st jetty in east fremantle ..Or up hilliries ..Indeed thick with tiger snakes on garden and carnac island. Ive seen them swimming across open ocean going to an fro each island. they wack a punch ...There is a few other islands up north with some gems on Jurien bay is 1 . lotta seals

good spot to see westerns inland from jurien.
