heya guys bit of a weird subject here but hope you can help/give advice

basically i found a nice juicy slug for billy to chomp on today but he just wasent intrested..however he did sniff around it and lick it

afterwards i threw the slug away..but i did notice that billy had some slime from the slugs underside around his mouth it is very sticky i managed to get it off the side of his mouth but i think there is some on his toungue ..will he be ok..if not how do i get this off..ive just gave him some food so hopefully this will wash it away..

i may be overacting i dont know but skinks eat slugs and snails anyways dont they so they must get some of this sticky slime around there chops dont they..

also billy last two sheds have been very patchy and ive had to bath him twice he used to shed very easy could i be doing something wrong ..his temps are between 35-40 c in the day in the hot end. but ive always had it like that??

could it be his diet??

anyways sorry to bother you all hope to hear from you soon

Its winter now, the humidity is lower. Try giving him a box of moist moss or paper towel during shedding time.

I'm still a beginner but do increase the humidity. Do you have a large water dish as this will evaporate and help. Make sure there are no retained shed pieces (esp toes, tail tip) and loosen these with a soak and gentle stroking (I use wet paper towel.) You might want to put some rough surfaced objects (rough not sharp!) in with him. Mine uses the tile platform and hollowed log to help him. This is preferable since they generally would rather do sheds without assistance!
Skinks (esp. pinks) will salivate sometimes when given slugs. My bluey devours snails but slugs gross me out and I have no first hand experience with them.
Good luck. Sorry I haven't more to offer!

My blueys won't touch Slugs but smash Snails. They lick them, see what they are - then leave them alone. I just put it down to the fact that they must taste like crap.

35 - 40oC is hot - could lower it to 30 - 35oC. In regards to shedding - try spraying water on his basking spot. I did this yesterday and Mini (one of my blotchies) shed everything all in one go. I have the shed on his tank.

I should take a pic of it and be a giant nerd like lucifer. :P

I posted before about mine having his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth buy slug glue, wet finger sorted it ,no lasting effects, just feed the snails{any size} from now on.
