BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

When I used to see skinks at the local reptile show or at a petstore, they would usually be black with grey stripes. Is there any particular type of skink that is always going to be the same color? I really like the black and grey coloration. Or is there a certain type that is only black and grey?

Usually they don't change color much from when they're babies, except they go from solid stripes to designs. Indonesien BTS are they only ones the are grey and black.

On the side where it show the types of bts, at the bottom of the indonesian it shows three baby pics. Are indonesians the only ones with that type of coloration?

Dude, what? They DO change color from babies to adult, and DO NOT change striping/design. You have that backwards. Also, Indos are not the only BTS that can have black/gray coloration or even solely those colors. Easterns can be black and gray as well as Shinglebacks, Kei Islands, Meraukes, Botched, Irian Jaya, and Tanimbar. No offense, but don't answer questions unless you're sure you know the answer! That's how misunderstandings and rumors start.

Those are standard Indonesian babies; pretty much any gigas baby looks like that at birth, then changes as it develops. I think you'd really like a Merauke. They're friendly, big, and are typically gray, brown and black. They're not too easy to find though unless you give in to buying a wild caught.

I don't want to get a wild caught, are there merauke breeders? I really like the color of the three indo baby pics

It's also possible you saw the blueys when they were going into shed. My Kei's loose all their color and look black and white right before they shed and they are normally either very red or yellow.

Indeed when born there dark over here , as not to be spoted by kookaburra , snakes .Then they go pale and shed thats when all there purty colours shine through . creams , wine , orange almost every colour ...I love sheds see how dark she is now stunning 290 grams was 93 grams something like that but really black face now its orange with with white stripes ..Must get a pic of lighning

Agreed,100% mine goes grey/black and white a week or so before shed, mines an IJ
