BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Sebastian has decided that he will not eat unless he is allowed to be out of the cage and he is cuddled. I told him that this will not continue when he grows up, but for now......I'm always happy for baby cuddle time!

Its hard not to be trained by a man so adorable!! I think that I'd be ok with him only wanting to eat outside of his cage.....Its good interaction time and I like knowing how much he's eating. I left the plate in there with him this afternoon and he hadn't touched it when I came home. He definitely wants to be held while he eats.

On that same note, I'd like it to be known that I HAND FED TARZAN today!! HA! It was great!! Yesterday I was feeding him blueberries on the end of a golf tee, and today I got brave and gave him a piece of kiwi with my bare hands. Good news is that I still have all of my fingers!! He was actually pretty gentle after he realized that I had food. I was impressed. Yay! Progress!!

I'm feeding Dwight by hand too, he had ten superworms today. He will hiss and huff while eating, because I hold him and pet him while eating.

He still runs when he sees me... I'm trying to work on that. The biting has stopped.

How often do you handle him? You'll have to keep me posted on how fast he tames down...TQ is a doll, but has been more huffy lately.

I know!! I felt all sorts of brave. Like a lion tamer or something. really though, I think he's actually starting to calm down. He still lunges if I put my hands in the tank too fast, but he's getting a lot better. Yay!

Well, hes ridiculously intelligent. He realizes I am no threat, as he rarely displays, and will eat while puffing at me, as I hold him, but he does not like my contact. He still has a crazy prey response, I wonder how many generations it took for that to go away in our northerns and easterns...

I try to handle him daily, he is stubborn!

Rollie will only eat out of my hand out of the cage, or tries through the cage glass... If I go through the top of the vivarium, he's too worried about what's afoot. I hope he'll get over that. I hate that top-loading tank. One day, something new.

Keep it up! I had TQ out for quite a while yesterday (outside and inside), he's gaining a lot of weight all of sudden; I'm not sure why.

He is adorable! What are you feeding him? I opened the feline Spot's Stew yesterday (for the first time) and it looked like vomit. I was going to use it for Charlotte but Pele' hates it and I would rather find something they both like.
Glad some of you like the fiestier varieties of blueys. Pele' nailed me one day when I was offering a snail and then let go immediately. I can't say as I need that kind of excitement in my life. I do like the way the Keis and Tannies look though. Post pictures and I'll stick with my Northerns...

I found that Baloo (my IJ) doesn't like the cat spots stew, but adores the dog food. I'm ok with this because I alternate between other kinds of protein. All of my skinks so far like the spots stew dog. Sometimes if I feel like messing with brands of pet food I'll use Merricks or Precision.
