Dishwashing liquid for cleaning?

Hi I currently have an Eastern bluey. I was wondering whether dishwashing liquid would be safe to use as a cleaner when cleaning my enclosure and the rocks? I figured that it is safe for humans so it could be safe for lizards as well, but I am not too sure. Also, I am afraid to use bleach for disinfecting, but I cannot find any Nolvasan/Virosan solution that was recommended in the caresheet here in New Zealand. Any solutions? I would like the best for my bluey.

I own Two Eastern blueys myself.
For the tank i used glass cleaner to clean the glass parts of the tank and i also used "Reptile Mite and lice spray" for the wood ornaments and other ones aswell.

I guess using dishwashing liquid would be fine if you remember to thoroughly wash it leaving no soap on it and make sure to dry properly.

But im not sure, so maybe wait for other advice

Most detergents are fine as long as mentioned you rinse off well, get an anti-bacterial wash liquid as thats the important ingredient, its the germs you want rid of most

a very dilute bleach solution (about 1 part bleach to 100 parts water) is OK.

If you're concerned about chemicals, using oil-extract cleaning products (with orange oil, lemon oil, garlic oil, etc...) works (rinse well afterwards), and for disinfecting, there's always salt and white vinegar mixtures that work well. Be sure to ventilate properly after using vinegar.

Thanks, yes, we do. Enzyme Cleaner with Peppermint will both clean your cage safely and help repel any insects/mites, etc.

SORRY FOR OT!!! On the subject of dishwashing liquid, I freaked the day my skink came home and I ran out and bought a bunch of hippie non-toxic cleaning products for around the house.

The other day I was all geared up to mop the floor. I opened up the Pine Sol, sniffed it, looked at the skink, and promptly put it away. Instead I sprayed some of that non-toxic surface cleanser in a bucket with water and used that instead. It worked fine. Since he explores the world with his tongue, I'm terrified he's going to end up licking some residual Windex or something. I don't let him on the floor because there's no telling what kind of urban filth I've tracked in.

That's part of the reason I hated it. A lot of code writers, help desk personnel and admins could do whatever they wanted, and the management, stupid and unwitting as they were, let them do whatever it is they wanted so long as they thought the computers worked and the code was written. Seemed a little unfair to people that couldn't do the same thing and got paid a lot less.

That wasn't the reason I gave up, the spoiled attitudes of a lot of the folks that took advantage of the "do whatever you wanted," plan made for a pretty crappy work environment in quite a few places.

I'd rather be friend with geeks and geek as a hobby rather than do it for a living.

It's different now that the dot com bubble has burst. Since there is a surplus of tech nerds these days, people get replaced in a heartbeat if they don't deliver. I've witnessed it many times. We just have the option to operate on an adjusted schedule, since most of us are not client-facing. It doesn't mean that we don't put in the hours. All of us put in more hours than our paychecks reflect. I'm just sayin'. It's different now. Sorry you had a bad experience.
