She made it safe and sound!

Postby mom22wins » Tue Jul 24, 2007 9:01 am

:) I was so excited when my little skink arrived, I didn't think to pick up the camera. I unpacked her and placed her in the tank right from the bag. She is such a curious little thing! I expected her to be very shy but was I wrong! I finally thought of the camera after she explored her surroundings and began to finally eat!

As you can see she proceeded to check out her basking rock and then she found a place to hide and settle in. I haven't held her yet. I think I will give her some time. I have the radio on so she will get used to some noise. Believe me, when the kids get home there will be noise! :D

Thank you Zach and Holly! :ohyes:

I will be forever grateful for my little treasure!!!

Now to think of a name.....

Is that the 65 gallon acrylic slider cage from glasscages.com? I just bought the glass one since they were here at the show and could save on the shipping costs.

boonaen, That is so cool! Can't wait to hand feed mine.

Steve, It's actually only a 20 gallon (I originally thought it was a 40 but double-checked later and it was a 20) that I got from Big Apple Herps online. It is probably the same tank though. It's acrylic with glass sliders and a screen top. I bought a lock for the sliding doors so my kids didn't bother her while I'm at work nights. Ya know how little fingers can be... Here's the link to where I got the tank. http://www.bigappleherp.com/Big-Apple-P ... ylic-Cages

cute baby

Postby aggiegirl » Tue Jul 24, 2007 3:02 pm

Oh, your baby is so cute!!! I had my camera ready but missed many of the unpacking pictures too. Like you, I was just so eager to see that she was OK that I just started upacking her without the camera in hand! Funny how curious and active they are after a long trip! I think that their curiosity must be a sign of intelligence. Was your baby tired today? I let Charlotte explore, then I had to hold her just a bit. After that, poor little thing just passed out. I don't blame her! She looks adorable sleeping under her little tile platform. I can't tell you how hard it is to just let her sleep!!!! They are just so cute!!!! I like your furnishings, by the way, there are so many neat hides!

Thanks everybody for the kind words! Yes, she did look around a bit but then crashed under the carefresh and I haven't seen her since! lol

I finally decided to name her SAMMY. That way it's cool whether she's a boy or a girl cause Sam could be for Samantha. :D

You guys make this whole thing so rewarding! Thanks again for your sweet words! :)

Sammy looks GREAT. I'm so glad you finally made it this far for homecoming. I expect a lot of pictures today, I already told Zach to hold down the forum for the flood of new pictures.

Great setup you have Sammy in too! Your work, research and preparation has paid off, methinks! :2thumbs:

Happy homecoming Sammy, congrats Mom22wins!

I can't wait to handle her. I'm almost hesitant. I don't want to freak her out. I guess I'll know when the time is right to offer her my hand. Zach, did she climb up into your hand or did you generally go get her? I'm so glad everyone came home okay. No need to worry now.

Drew: The food is a mixture of dog food, squash baby food and collard greens. I was saving the grapes to chop up and place around the dish but after she ate the first time she never came back out for seconds.

This morning, I turned on the lights and set her food inside but I think she's sleeping in. Long day yesterday...

mewzic-7123: I'm not sure her measurements but she is the runt so she's pretty little. On the sales page of the forum if you look at the last picture under "Dex" Zach is holding her in the palm of his hand!

Can't believe how big and beautiful the other older skinks on here have become. Can't wait to see what a beauty she'll be!

Thank everyone, I think she's a pretty skink too!

And thanks Kyle! You can bet you'll be hearing from me in the near future. It's inevitable...

Talk to you all soon,

Diane (Proud New BTS Mommy)
