BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Is this ok to feed my kids....my blueys
I was just making up some skink food and the cat was watching which reminded me i needed to feed her so i tossed in a bit of roo meat and they ate it so im hoping thats ok.

excellent food, low in fat.

A few of the more experienced Aussie keepers feed their blueys kangaroo meat.

I can't imagine eating a Kangaroo. Well, maybe Captain Kangaroo.. and only if we were stranded on an island together and ran out of food.

I'd start with his legs.

Sorry to hijack your thread , does anyone have an opinion on ostritch meat, I had a big bird burger, it was like a cross between chicken and steak and was lovely, I'd imagine it to be good for Blueys

You're too young for Captain Kangaroo! He would be a tough old bird to eat. You'd be better off eating shoe leather.

Where can I get Kanagaroo meat. It sounds weird and I want to try it.

I hear 'roo meat is pretty good. I'd certainly feed it to a bluey if I had a cheap source of it...

...ostrich meat? I find it has the weight and feel of beef and none of the flavor. I was relatively unimpressed. It has this subtle gamey flavor, but it seems to not hold a real flavor of it's own in any capacity I've had it. I don't hate it, but it just doesn't have the "oomph" of other meats. I'd feed it to blueys, it's very low in fat. Since Rollie has a thing for the smell and cooked part of the meat, I wonder if it'd go for it.

I've eaten Ostrich meat whilst on safari..... not all that impressed.

Kangaroo meat is a bit stringy for me too.

I'd never eat it myself, no way in hell but my pets love the stuff.

Ostrich stinks, kangaroo is ok, the best meat I have had is alligator. Its amazing.

I got bit by an Ostrich once when I was little. I'd love to bite one back someday.

I've never understood alligator meat, how can there be enough to supply all the restaurants (not a lot have alligator, but I've seen it around enough)? Are there alligator farms?

Yes Zach, there are alligator farms... I think the conditions they are put through are horrible but I guess people can make that arguement with any farmed animal. If you want to see the conditions just google Alligator farm pics, I'm sure you'll find what I'm talking about. But I must agree Alligator meat ROCKS, especially fried alligator tail with cocktail sausce! Its like a mix between chicken and calimari.

Yes, there are alligator farms, they are mad easy to breed.
