Please help! I need advice concerning Charlotte!

I am a paranoid owner. I try not to post too many hysterical threads but I'm really concerned. Charlotte, my Peach baby who is about one month old has ingested something that freaked me out. I had her outside and she was cruising in the grass. She suddenly stopped and ingested a piece of dead St. Augustine grass root that was approximately 1 1/2cm by 1/2cm. I tried unsuccessfully to retrieve it and now I am freaking out. I know that doesn't seem very large but you have to remember that she is still very small. I know that it is probably easier to digest than snail shells but it was very hard and not brittle. She didn't choke when she swallowed it but I am worried about impaction. I hate to freak out but I watched some pet store blueys die due to pebbles and I am just so paranoid now. Somebody give me some feedback as this may be a sleepless night. I much would have preferred that she eat her tail.

I think as long as it's not a plastic, stone, rubber, metal or something like that, she'll be fine. It's organic. It just may take a little longer to break it down.

You're a good mommy to worry but I think it is something out in the environment that she may have come across in the wild. Mother nature would've prepared her for it.

Pele' tried to eat a temp probe one time. I know of another bluey who ate a wrist hanger on a camera cord. Surely she will be alright. She doesn't seem bothered in the least. I'm the one with butterflies...

I've seen one of my blueys eat a dry chicken leg bone about 4 inches long in 3 gulps... not an issue.

I have no idea what grass that is but as long as it's not poisonous your bluey should be fine.

Whats St Augustine grass like its a root you say, so there shouldn't be a problem, you may off found a new item for the "occasional feeders" list haa ha, as so said, as long as its not been weed killered{is that even a word}I reckon all clear,

I can't say as I really enjoy digging through bluey poop but I was rewarded for my efforts----SHE PASSED THE WHOLE PIECE INTACT!!!! I was so relieved! I figured she would be fine but I can now sleep easy. She ate well and has acted normal today. I was gone (7 hr trip to and from Houston for pre-surgical bloodwork) today so that was a welcome relief when I returned. (Zach, I called but your recorder was full.)

Hey, I have a bizarre question. I am going in for surgery next week and I wanted to know if any of you would take Pele' if anything happened to me. I am not trying to be morbid or anything but my mom almost bled to death 2 yrs ago and that was a reality check. Also, when I was a vet, sometimes geriatric owners failed to find suitable homes for their pets and we would even have the kids ask us to euthanize their parents' pets for convenience purposes. (Don't worry, we placed them.) I don't have any friends or family who would know what to do with a lizard. My husband doesn't even know what blueys eat and my kids are too young to care for them. Besides, with 3 kids, he would be struggling. So, I'm sure Grandpa Zach could re-home Charlotte but would anyone take Pele'? PM me if you could. This might sound strange but after completing all the living will paperwork, etc. it just occurred to me that this was something I'd never contemplated. I love my little blueys and just want all my bases covered...

Thanks so much for the offer! I will tell Pele' that he has a new godmother! Of course if I show him pictures of your new outdoor setup, he might plan my demise.
I don't have anything life-threatening going on. I have incompetant veins in one of my legs and they have become a real pain (literally!) They are a bit concerned about me throwing a clot (but that can be a complication of any surgery!) I'm sure things will go fine but this just eases my mind. I know this sounds silly to some of you but I know Jenn and Zach would take great care of my babies if anything bizarre happened to me. I can't say that my other friends or families would give them the same level of care. I already have a deal with my parents that we would care for each others' dog in the case of some emergency. (Of course that agreement did lead to them dumping their previous dog on me---as my mom decided they really didn't want him back after her surgery. ) My parents, however, do not appreciate their grandlizards the way that the people on this forum do! I feel better having this taken care of...Thanks so much Jenn! I haven't told grandpa Zach but I know what he'll say!

Leigh, you are right! Poor Zach is about half my age. All these youngsters on the forum!
Charlotte finally unloaded the scales on her head. I need to find my camera again. I swear she has grown since I got her. Her colors are still so pretty. Her sides are lemony orange even though pictures don't do her justice. I hope she retains some of that color. She is getting braver and spending more time out of hiding. I keep wishing I had a front opening tank but she seems to be doing better with me coming from up top. I'm sure the little bribes help. I leave the radio on for her and our house is full of unusual kid sounds. Today she heard her first plane overhead. She was so brave! She is a busy little bluey. Funny how much more active she is than my one year old. I have been watching her much more closely when we go out. She flicks her tongue at everything. You would think ever photo I took would show that. Why are tongue shots so hard to capture?
