At the moment I keep WA westies , what westies do other people keep?

Hi and :welcome:

I also live in Melbourne!

I keep Easterns not Westerns so im not sure.
My guess is that you may want to look up their
habitat and what kind of environment they tend to
live in and make changes according to that.

Hope help comes soon ;)

Welcome!

Easy on the double-posting, mate. Back buttons and too many clicks can get a little crazy.

We'll forgive you if you post a new thread with your Westerns... :cloud9: :lounge:

Leigh,

Occy (pro surfer) retired last year. I watched him surfing Bells beach (near my home) at Easter.

No worries mate , did you check out the caresheet here, and the food section, it takes some reading but most of your questions should be answered , but ask away anyway.

Hi, I keep westerns outdoors in Brisbane and they do fine,I just have them raised up above the ground on about 6-8 inches of sand so the drainage is good.

hi occi,i have northern sa westerns,im also from melborne, more precisely the mornington peninsula,id be a little careful with housing westerns out doors, being they are a desert species,so prefer dryer conditions, but im not saying u cant house them out doors,u would just have to set them up well,eg keep them dryish, maybe a greenhousey type set up to keep them dryer, welcome to the site by the way and id love to see a pic of your westerns mate, all the best

Thanks for the info guys!
I'm thinking of keeping them in a greenhouse style enclosure during late spring , summer, early autumn periods , then indoors for the rest of the year. I have them indoors now and I cant believe how quickly they are growing !
When I'm home during the day I will post pics . I will need some time as I am no camera and internet expert. What do nortern SA ones look like Richard ?
Thanks for the welcome guys.

Occi,

I think Mike's (Pike) idea about the layer of sand is an excellent idea and should be incorporated into your western's enclosure.
