sperm plugs a bad thing?

Postby Tula_girl » Wed Aug 01, 2007 6:21 pm

Hi everybody, I have a bluey and he has sperm plugs ALL THE TIME...they look exactly like the picture in the caresheet. Could this be a bad thing to have too many? He seems to have them every couple days or so. This might be a stupid question but what is the reason for sperm plugs? Is it just a way of relieving himself? I have mainly geckos and they don't have anything like that. Thanks in advance!

sperm plugs

Postby aggiegirl » Wed Aug 01, 2007 7:41 pm

Funny, I have only one crested gecko (who is quite obviously a male) and he sheds sperm plugs all the time. Amazingly enough, he likes to eat these. It is almost like he makes a point of what he is doing. He has even done this while I've held him. It's quite remarkable how flexible he is... I am not going to make further comments as there may be kids lurking out there...
I have never seen any evidence of sperm plugs from my one year old Northern and I watch him like a hawk. I am beginning to think Pele' was a bad choice for a name.
Pictures would help to confirm.

Some boy skinks just drop more sperm plugs then others. Maybe they are extra fertile? :noknow:

Aggie- Don't worry about the name. Stella is a boy so know his full name is Mr. Stella the Fella. Baylee use to be Kaylee until he showed me boy parts. Frankie use to be Frank until I knew more about skinks and realized she was female. I'm not sure about Christopher but if he turns out to be a she, she'll be Christy.

Stella is a real mans name  (no offense to any females named Stella)

Kris

The "white poo" is actually a urate.
A urate is the white stuff that is eliminated with the reptile’s urine.
Both are products of the kidney.

Thanks for the help everybody. I should have gotten a picture of the two that I found in with his poop recently. They looked just like the ones in the picture on the caresheet. I will post a pic when I get one.

I don't know what I'll end up doing if Sebastian is a girl!! I'll have to call her Ariel then (At least I'd be in the same movie....). I got lucky and Baloo is very proud of his boy parts, so he was appropriately named.

That was always my worry with Saphira's name. There was no way I could change that one into a boys name but luckly she was a girl!
