Much more active

I noticed today that Sammy is much more active. She's walking around and bathing in her water. She's out and about basking on her tile and looking at me. I tried to open the sliders to see if she wanted out but she wasn't really interested and I didn't pursue her. I figure she's feeling comfortable today and I didn't want her to go into hiding again by chasing her around the tank to pick her up.
Do you think she's about to shed again? She just finished her last shed about a week ago...

She could shed again, but I would try to handle her as much as possible when she is young, it really makes a difference.

Yeah, I'm making it a point to hold her atleast once a day. She came to my hand before but mostly I have to dig her out of the substrate to get her out. She's a sweetheart once she's out though.

It's possible that she's due to shed again because they shed a lot as little ones. It's also possible that it's just the weather or that she's feeling more comfertable and you are seeing more of her personality.

I prefer to believe it's this.

Charlotte is quite the wild child too. She is constantly moving around and exploring. She doesn't come to me but she doesn't usually try to escape when I scoop her up now. Every day she seems less anxious about being out. I've been taking her outside every day too. At first that scared her but now she is so curious that she explores rather than just hiding. I must admit it is much less intimidating taking a baby out than it was to take my "newly purchased 6 month old." On her first day outdoors, she got scared and did the whole flat as a pancake thing and I just smiled. When my 6 month old did that (along with tongue out and back curved), it actually scared me! Charlotte is finally calming down enough to just lay there and look around. Today, when I put her back in her tank, she came over to the glass and started to try to scratch through it. I think she was missing the excitement of the "world beyond the tank." It is so fun to watch the changes.

Kathy, that is so funny. Sammy does that now too. It's like, she'll try to hide when I go to get her but when I put her back she's like "hey! Don't put me back!"
