Chuff and his funny spinal-dent

Postby SailleSkinklover » Thu Aug 16, 2007 3:42 pm

Here are a few pics of Chuff Chuff: Image
If you look by my hand, you can see where his spine was crushed. It's why he's a little "flat".

Who can resist a tongue shot? not me!

I know his back doesn't look as scary as Darling's, but Chuff is a living testament to how resilient these critters are! He was in such rough shape when we first got him, really thin and flat, and scary to think, he was improving then! He apparently had been sharing a cage with a python, and the temps were so low that both reptiles were basically in hibrination. So Hooray for all those people out there who care and want to
give these guys a better life!
By the way, he's not on that substrate anymore! He's on paper towels and non-printed newspaper, (like what you get for drawing classes) because he's still being treated for hookworms. He gets his final fecal on Sept 8th. (Lets hope he's parasite-free by then. Here's to good Skink-health! WOHOO!) I'll post more pics soon.

Who would put a skink in with a python? that's just unreasonable. :shake: :nono: whoever did that should be fired.

More details on Chuff's story

Postby SailleSkinklover » Thu Aug 16, 2007 4:26 pm

Yeah, the idiot kid that bought him apparently got him because he thought the lizard was a "cool" thing to have. The kid ended up going to jail for whatever reason, (he did get fired! By Karma!) and my friend's friends rescued him from there. However, they didn't know how to feed him, (tho' they had the sense to give him some veggies instead of just crickets and mealworms) and as they have a ton of snakes and prefer them to lizards, they decided to give him to me!! (They also gave me my White Lined Gecko because, get this, they ddn't like him! He has such cool feet! And he barks!) Well, I sure wasn't going to turn down a free BTS! Hence, I did my research on them, and thank Gods I found you guys. :D
I only hope Chuffie's life gets better from now on. :lounge:

Chuff Chuff looks great. Glad you happened upon you! What a cutie! Who could prefer a snake to a bluey! Could you post a gecko picture along with Chuff Chuff's next time you post? I'm about to google that kind. I have a cresty---so I like geckos too. Although I must say that they don't compare to blueys!

Even though it is an injury that no BTS should be subjected to, you gotta admit -- it give him a physical personality.

Hi Kristiemac,
Yeah, Chuff uses his back legs fine. Sometimes he does the "snake" thing and glides along the grass on his belly, but his back legs seem as capable as any bluey. He's also just about finished shedding. Its our bonding time, he loves rubbing against me to get his scales off. How is poor Darling doing? Please keep us updated, I'm still sending healing energies her way!
