BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I am looking through the forum, and I don't see any posts asking about this or addressing this. I know there are lists of iguana and chameleon-safe plants out there, but have anyone actually kept live plants with their BTS or trust them while free-roaming?

I just realized this when I started watering my plants today, what kind of plants can be trusted with the Blueys? I had babysat a small monitor one time, and it just completely destroyed every plant I had, even my poor 5-years old Weeping Fig; it snapped it in half by climbing on it before I was able to pick her up again. I definately learned to relocate fragile plants after that experience.

I am just thinking about this since there were a few posts on forums about Blueys climbing on things.

This brings me to a question sort of relating to this:
I saw on the caresheets that certain types of flowers are edible for Skinks. Has anybody ever tried feeding day lilies and/or geraniums or any other lizard-friendly-edible flowers? I'm thinking it'd be so fun to plant things in the garden for Chuff to explore! Any ideas besides wild organic dandelions?

I let mine do the garden thing and hes not interested in plants for food, just likes stones and snails even the dandilions dont get a second glance. I asked about living plants in the tank when I first came here, and decided against it when Lea pointed out about the humidity.

Both day lilies and geraniums are inedible for all the herps I can think of... I wouldn't feed them. My gang likes.. and these are safe/edible... hibiscus, nasturtium, violas, rose petals and dandelion. I believe there may be a few more, but I am not familiar with them and don't have them in my gardens.

As for live plants in the viv, I would think anything that is strong enough to support the weight of your Bluey and is non-toxic... but the trouble is finding one that is sturdy enough to support their weight. You don't want them to fall.

It just that my mammalian pets know better not to mess with my plants; I am just not sure about the herptile pets. I know that I will either be giving away my English Ivy or chuck it since it's toxic to reptiles, and we don't want no Bluey eating it... do we?

I think my Aloes and Hens and Chicks will be safe since they are sturdy and ground-hugging, and they are safe for reptiles to eat. However I could be wrong, considering how a 10" monitor managed to flatten them; they survived and thrived afterward though. It is just some of my bigger ones like the ficus and draceana, I don't know if a Blue will try and climb them or not. Some people say they will, others say they won't.
