Breakfast

Postby Jenn » Sun Aug 19, 2007 7:59 pm

As mentioned in another thread my guys breakfast yesterday was all from my garden!!! I decided since I had stole my mom's good camera to take pictures when I clean their cages this week (so ignore the dirty cages!), I would take some of them eating.

A plate for each bluey. I used a whole tomato, about 10 green beans, a whole zuchinni and 5-6 big collard green leaves. The chicken is left over from my dinner the night before (whole chicken cooked plain). I think I ate maybe a breast and between the cats and the lizards finished the rest. These are very full plates but at this time of year most of my guys eat the majority of it.

The lights went on maybe a 1/2 or so before I fed them so some of them were just getting up.

Christopher- Breakfast in bed!
Image

Cordy- It's about time!
Image

Izzy- Did I hear someone mention food?!
Image

Saphira- I know you aren't taking a picture of me this early!
Image

Spike- Take as many pictures as you want, I've got food!
Image

Stella- Mom, hurry up and bring my food!
Image

It was worth the wait!

Stella is actually very handsome! I found out this past Spring when he mated with my eastern Saphira, that she was a he. His offical name is- Mr. Stella the Fella because I've been calling him Stella for too long to change it.

You could call him Stelar or something, its pronounced the same but not as girly :)

Great pics too!

I've been typing and saying Stella for too long to change. He's secure enough in his mascilinity (my ownly male to get some action!) that he doesn't mind a girly name or his pink flowered bluey gear!

Cordy is my female Kei. She's redder then my male kei. He was camera shy this morning. Wouldn't come out to eat until I put the camera away.

Baylee isn't really a morning skink. He stayed half covered in the corner of the tank until I put the camera away. Then a little while later he came over to munch on his food. It takes him a while to get going in the morning. In fact most morning he doesn't even both waking up. He thinks noon is a much more socail hour. I'll get lots of pictures when I clean his tank though.

6 of my tanks are the 65 gallon sliding glass fronts from glasscages.com. The other two are ones my dad made for him and they are about 3ft by 3ft.

When you planted your garden, did you think about what veggies you liked or what veggies your skinks liked? Do you have any edible flowers?

I totally planted the garden for the skinks!!!! The only things I eat are the tomatos. I did plant green peppers which I like but they are blooming really late so I'm not sure they are going to make it before it starts to get chilly. I also planted spagetti squash and acorn squash. I have a lot of flowers on their vines but no squash yet. I didn't grow any edible flowers because I did them last summer and my guys turned their noses up to them.
