BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I was wondering if any of you have experienced a similar situation.

I hand fed Sammy 2 canned silkworms Monday. This was after she ate her regular meal for the day. Since then, she hasn't eaten. I don't know if she is just really full from the big meal the other day or if she's impacted. She is resting alot but that's nothing new. I've had her out and she is active enough. She has not pooped in the last 2 days either. (She did poop Monday after eating.)

Is she just really full or should I worry??

When was the last time she shed? They get a little weird when they are due to shed. If you are really worried you can try giving her a warm bath. That normally helps losen things up.

I wouldn't worry about impaction. Jenn is completely right about the shedding thing.

Thanks for the info guys. I don't think she'll be ready to shed for another week or so. She just finished a shed last week.

Good news, she pooped today! But she still won't eat... I wonder if I am having this problem because I hand fed her and now she wants to be hand fed? It was only the one time.

Maybe she will eat tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

They do reach an age where they just don't want to eat everyday. And also the time of year, being that you're heading into Autumn, even though it might still be warm, their body clock tells them it's time to stop eating.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. I think they're actually alot smarter than us when it comes to food. They only eat when they're hungry, not like us who eat just because.

You have a far more normal skink if he doesn't want to eat everyday, rather than one that eats every single day without fail!

Sounds all normal to me...even consistent eaters take a break every now and again..

Cool. She looks fine so I'm not gonna let myself worry too much.

She's been peaking out from her blanket this morning which usually doesn't happen for another hour so maybe her appetite is back! lol We shall see.

Is she partaking of any delicious tidbits today?

She ate this morning but only 2 or 3 baby bites. I've seen her chow down before so... She is back to sleep now. I wonder if she is noticing a temp difference lately. It's been a little chilly here (60's) at night.

It's supposed to get warm (around the 90's) this weekend. I'm going to see if she gets more active then.
