hi guys.
someone is trying to sell me a BTS here that he says its a silver tanimbars. Since ive never seen one in person im posting pics of it here.

Ive read in the Tanimbar info here that they are a little feisty but these guys are pretty calm.. ive seen the video and my oh my thats one "hissing" bts.. great personality though heheheh

he says that its a CB here and he has shown me the pics of the parents. There are only two of them left. and the guys says that they are not siblings. If these guys are really Tanimbars, im really excited to get it. One is because there arent so much BTS available here specially other than IJ's and gigas..
but i was hoping that there were more of them so i could have a choice and the babies are fat but he said they were being given meal worms ever since. the babies are fat, ive expected them and no defect and rounded bodies.

what do you think guys? should i get it?
what are the pros and cons of a Tanimbars? are they harder to take care of?
pls enlighten, help and advise hehehe

thanks guys

They look Tanimbar to me!

The only con is their foul temperament -- they can be tamed down tho, but will probably never be as tame as your IJ.

even the baies are that tame ZAch?
the other baby hissed and puffed.. but there were times that there were just cool about picking them up..what do you think? i have a choice between picking up another IJ, INDO or these guys..
these guys are a jewel to me bec they arent too many of these here

Maybe they were cold or something. My blueys are real calm when they haven't been basking.

Drew - Just remember that Tanimbars for the most part are the most aggressive. But if they're rare over there and you like them, go for it! They're just not the cuddle-type if that's what you like...

Drew, it's all good, just realize the Tannie's likes/dislikes and mind the moods. You're probably ready for a challenge anyway.... :hehe:

finally decided to get it.. its about 2 mos old and quite a stunner. didnt tried to hiss. But when i tried to pick him up he peed. I tried to inspect every nook and cranny of it and ive noticed that their sclaes are indeed harder compared with the other BTS. He has a lump like under its chin but im not so sure if its a deficiency, it just looks like a large jaw. hehe

he is now settling down with the large sweater box where Boris used to stay while i have a customized enclosure for him. He looks a lot better comapred to Boris when i got him. This Tanny is fat and muscular < which i read is commn to Tanny's > The breeder feeds it meal worms, chicken, cat and dog food. I hope he eats better than Boris.
I picked the more silvery one compared to the other which is more brown.
So Tanny owners out there i need help with this guy i hope he eats and be A1 healthy.
his picture is the one posted. will try to get a better one.
thanks guys

any suggestion with a name? Tanimbar sounding and with a "B"
:D :ohyes: 8) :)

Brutus? He's a cutie, and if he already seems fairly tame, keep handling him to keep him that way.

well, its his first night with me. planned of not letting him eat today, just to give him time to settle in. He was hiding in the crumpled paper when i picked him up and not a huff and hiss.
hope he stays that way

Haha, weird, Brutus was my first thought too. Others that come to mind are Bruno, Butch, Brody, Banger, Bruiser.. or the ever funny, Borat.

By the way, I've found that any BTS will be moody when shedding, Ty just bit me twice! It was kinda funny.

little Bowie shed this afternoon, hope he eats alot this time. im getting worried too with him because Boris my IJ isnt eating.
Bowie is staying in a large rubbermaid outside the room while Boris is inside..
He pooped while on shed too and examined that it contained exo skeletons of a mealworm, which he is eating when i saw him at the pet shop.
i hope he will eat like a champ. tried to nudge him to his food dish but he is little shy when it comes to eating. shucks.....
