tomato and lettuce aren't that great for them. Is that all you feed them? Did you read the caresheet?

caresheet

Do take awhile to peruse the caresheet. You will find a grocery list of nutritious foods to feed your bluey. You will find it to be an invaluable resource for other husbandry recommendations as well. Good luck!

well, i feed my skink turkey in gravey (without much gravey) catfood (the good chunky kind) mixed with either broccoli, collard greens, or green beans and a touch - a very small touch) of peaches, mango, or banana on the side (she LOVES banana).

then, when she's out, i might hand feed her some unseasoned baked chicken or even tear off a couple slivers of bologna! it's fun to, now and then, hold the food tight between your fingers and make the skink tug at it. they give you the oddest look when you do that!

every now and then, i'll drop in a cricket (make sure you have them for at least 4 days and they are not sick and you've let them eat a fare share of Fluker's Cricket Quencher) or two... if she doesn't catch them both, i remove it after 2 days (they are stinky).

make sure your food is not too cold or hot. i usually take it out of the fridge and microwave it for 5 seconds... yes, only 5 seconds. this puts it at about 95 degrees in the middle, so i stir it up and let it sit for 5 minutes till it cools to about 85 and put it half-way between the hot and cool side of the tank. remove it after no more than 2 hours, especially if the skink shows no interest.

i haven't gotten around to snales because all i can find around here are the water ones and i don't know it they're acceptable.

just incase you miss it on the care sheet, make sure not to overfeed your skink. spot clean the tank every 1 to 2 days and completely clean it about every 15 to 20 days. keep that water fresh, too!

the cool side should be around 70 to 80 and the hot side near 90 with the hot-spot sitting around 95 to 100. the temp can drop down at night, even as far as 60 or 65, but try to maintain 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark.

also, skinks (at least mine) seem to like crawling around in laundry and sitting inside clothes with nothing but their head sticking out. i think they like being around people, but not necessarily being carried everywhere.

lastly, if you want to let your skink have a real good time, take her outside or, if you can't do that, let her crawl around the bathroom floor while you shower or something. the temporary shot of humidity along with a new place to explore makes em happy.

oh yeah, and as cool as it seems, don't let your skink ride on your shoulder without having your hand VERY nearby in order to keep her from jumping or slipping. don't be fooled into thinking that, just because they've never jumped off of the bed or couch before, they won't decide to try it someday. they are very curious boogers and might take the plunge.

ummm... other than that.... have fun!!!!

Yeah, what he said! lol

There is also a thread on here under the topic "What's on the Menu today?" that gives several of the diets fed by our bluey owners on the forum.

The rule of thumb I follow is 50% meat and 50% veggies and greens. You can choose to use fruit for 10% of their daily diet balancing meat and vegg accordingly. Have fun. :)
