Once upon a time......

…..In the mountains far far away, there lived a bluetongue lizard named Jubby, who really, really, really, really wanted to come out of his tank.
Image

‘Please Mum! I’ll be ever so good’, said Jubby.
Image

‘OK then’ Mum replied. ‘But you have to come in the study with me because I’ve got work to do’

‘Thanks so much, Mum!’ Jubby said happily.

But Jubby lied, and was soon being a nuisance.
Image

Thinking that maybe a bit of company might make Jubby give it a rest, Santos the Shingleback was deployed.

However, it soon became evident that the two were hatching a plot.
Said Santos: ‘Hey, lets both have a go and really push her over the edge’
‘Cool. Let’s high 5 on it’ Jubby replied eagerly.
Image

So Mum’s cunning plan backfired, and the two made even more noise, mess and damage.
Image

Image

‘That’s it!’ yelled Mum! ‘Ralphie!!! Get your bum in ‘ere and show these two how to behave with a little decorum’

Whilst Mum went upstairs to grap Ralphie, Santos thought he’d hang around a little.
Image

But Ralphie took one look at the goings on and said ‘No way!’ They’re too mental even for me! Laters!'
Image

Eventually, as the day drew to a close and energy levels were flagging, Jubby retired to his favourite box in his favourite drawer in Mum’s desk….
Image

….and Ralphie and Santos went back to their own room for a kip.
Image

When Mum, tired herself, went back upstairs, she said hello to the kookaburra on the back deck.
Image
Image

But then the kookaburra brought a friend and Mum thought ‘oh no! Here we go again!’
Image

So she quickly closed the doors, poured herself a stiff belt, and crashed out on the lounge.

The end.

Oh god, my sides hurt! This is exactly the kind of story I want to tell my future kids before bed. All it needs is a moral at the ending. The skinkers are looking great. Very nice pictures. Thanks for the lark.

Oh man thanks, I needed a laugh today awsome picture of the kookaburra by the way I will be kidnapping a copy of that pic for my daughter as one of her favorite bedtime songs is the kookaburra song, I've been singing it to her since she was 2 months old (her other favorite is a swahili song)

Lisa, you should definitely think about publishing a children's book! (OK, you may need someone to edit out the part about the drink! ) As usual, you and the kids have provided much needed laughs. Thanks so much for sharing. I love seeing your guys (esp. Jubby!) but your narrating is the thing that makes me open your threads first!
