My little girl is a boy!

Postby JWSR » Mon Sep 17, 2007 1:32 pm

I know, I know! I haven't been posting any pictures since I got Bindi/Shelly. I've been very busy rearranging the reptile room and getting her permanant enclosure set up, and dealing with a 9 foot boa with a serious nose rub. So I thought I better post some pics and tell of my new discovery.

Yesterday I had Bindi in my lap while searching the web. As she was sitting on my leg, I happened to glance down at just the right time to see her raising those back legs. Not before a small dribble started, I picked her up and held her over a paper towel and she proceeded to finish what I thought was just a urination. But no, she was squeezing out a full load. As she was, something caught my eye, and I raised her up to eye level and sure enough, both hemipenes were everted on either side of the feces. Well, so much for the name Bindi?! Any ideas anyone, keeping with the Australia Zoo/Steve Irwin family theme?

So here's a few shots of Bindi who, by the way, has gone from 70 gr. to 128 gr. in less than 4 weeks.

Still in the smaller cage.

I've got to get some of Irwin posted. This guy has grown. Five days ago on his 4 month birthday, he weighed in at 304 gr. I couldn't believe it!

Enjoy, and my apologies for breaking the law.

Wasn't Bindi the croc's mate Graham? Maybe try that, or one of the other croc names.

I think Bindi is great for a boy or a girl.....so what if the name sake is female? Your little boy is HANDSOME!! Looks just like his mommy.

Nice looking boy. :weirdo: As bindi means drop, small partical or dot why not keep it. Could refer to the beautiful spots in his posterior legs. Bindi also refers to those beautiful jewels indian women wear between their eyebrows on their forehead. He looks like a jewel to me! :goodlife:

I think the Irwins' named their youngest child Bob, after Steve-o's dad, Robert. You could always call him Wesley, or Wes, wasn't that Steve's best mate?
But I like Bindi or maybe Bindoh!
Haha, congrats on your new boy! :D

I agree, bindi can be used for a boy or girl :) and yay for Steve Irwin names. I loved the guy and all he's done for animals & his daughter reminds me a lot of myself as a kid :D
