BELLA'S GONE!!!

My girlfriend has been up for the weekend and she had a makeshift rubbermaid cage to hold Bella in. We went down to feed the skinks just now and she is not in her cage! She has spent a about a week in that cage before and not gotten out, but somehow she managed it. We are scrounging the basement, but haven't had any luck yet. Pray for us!
good luck

Oh no!

I can imagine how scared you must be. Did you read the caresheet about lost skinks? There are some ideas about putting out flour, etc. to check for her presence. Remember to check warm areas and places with white noise. So sorry to hear about this. Keep us updated.

There's no way she could have actually gotten out of the house, it there? First, block any escapes from the room, then grab a flash light and check every crevice you can find. Blueys are very adept at fitting under doors and behind stuff if they can fit their heads in there. And you'd be amazed where they can fit those noggins!
Chuff fit his head in and almost started crawling up into the fridge motor area from underneath the front of the door before I realized what was happening. I was right there, so no harm done though.
Try enticing her out with her fave foods. Chuff pulled a disappearing act on Tony and I lured him out from deep under a bookcase with smelly hard boiled egg.
Good luck! I hope you find her quickly and safely.

Look inside everything. Even little spots where you don't think she can be. Also try sitting very still and quiet. I've found my guys before because I heard a sneeze or a huff. Given the time it's possible she's sleeping somewhere and isn't going to come out until the morning. Good luck and I hope you find her quickly.

We are in the process of moving, we are are slowly moving everything from the room after checking inside of it. It's in a basement where there is basically no escape route and no open pipes or anything like that.. so I'm not freaking out yet. We are just trying to be thorough right now.
I'll keep you updated.

Thanks Ian..
Well, my girlfriend and I have torn through everything we can think of in this basement. I sleep down here, so we are just gonna call it a night and go to bed. We set up a heat lamp just pointing at the ground near the bed and set a dish of cut up mango (her favorite so far) on top of a bunch of plastic bags (so we can hear her if she walks on them maybe). I'm not too hopeful that this is going to help us, but I would feel inadequate if I didn't take any measures.. thanks for eveyone's help.

Dont worry too much. She'll probably start exploring now that the noisy humans are leaving. I'm sure you'll find her soon.
Oh, and are you 100% sure she's not in the container? Yesterday I thought Trikks had gotten out because he didn't huff even when I was moving the carefresh on top of him. Eventually I just uncovered him and he looked up to say *I like cookies :-)?

Hey, Russman,
Any luck finding Bella yet? Try the hard boiled egg or other smelly type meat stuff she might like. Chuffers loves mango too, and that coupled with hardboiled egg is one of his favorites.

Well, I tried to get on here for a day and a half and this is the first I've been able to. I found her the next day after taking just about everything out of the basement. She was under my bookcase that I didn't even know had a space under it. It's a good thing I picked it up and didn't slide it.
In the end I lost some sleep and a half a day of work. Oh well, glad she's safe and sound.

Glad to hear you unearthed your wayward skink.

Maybe she just wanted a good read?

Don't mean to laugh at yours or Bella's expense, but that's exactly what Chuff did to Tony! Our bookcase has a false front on the bottom that lies against the floor, so there's no way to get under it from the front side. But around the back from behind, Chuff managed to sneak right past Tony and get in there and underneath it.
We would never have realized this at all, if I hadn't gotten the hard boiled egg out from the fridge! I laughed my head off when I saw his head poking out from under the back of that bookcase!
Tony was very relieved that he hadn't lost Chuff.
Alls well that ends well, I'm so glad you found that sneaky little Bella!
No more Hide-adn-go Skink for a while, huh?

Don't mean to laugh at yours and/or Bella's expense, but that's exactly what Chuffers did to Tony! He somehow snuck right past Tony and back behind our bookshelf, which has a false front that is in direct contact with the ground. The only way to get back under there is from behind. We would never have even known it if I hadn't gotten some hard boiled egg out and then I happened to see Chuff's head poking out from under the back of the bookshelf!

Absolutely cracked me up!
Anyway, (the forum seems to be losing my posts somehow, I hope this one comes through!) No more Hide -and-go-Skink, Huh?
