BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

My new skink is still shy. it just hides all day, hardly ever coming out. but this evening i caught it. i put some food in his cage and left the room, a few minutes later i went back in to get my shoes and it had its food dish on its side and was chowing down. then it saw me. it slowly returned its dish to on its bottom, and shrunk down to hide behind it. then it darted (as fast as a skink could dart) back into it's hide. it had food covering its face, and a piece of kale covering half it's face. i laughed at it and told it, it wasn't sneaky.

Too bad you didn't have a camera to capture those antics!

sorry, no name yet. i don't like calling it "it" but that's all i got for now.

sounds like my loki. i was worried aout lack of uv as he hides all the time so i have been a meanie and striped his tank the last two nights so he at least gets some time under the uv.

i also showed him my geckos through the glass and he huffed and puffed like he was auditioning for the big bad wolf. lol i really wish he wasnt so scared of everything in the world.

Trikks never seems to come out. He hides all day, and hates coming out. Ocasionally he'll bask from inside his plants, but only where I can't see him. I'm sure he'll get over it eventually. Wocket also hides 99% of the time, but seems less afraid. Pryce of course is always out on his basking rock or peeking our from somewhere, so at least I have one to see. He's much bigger, so I think he feels more secure.

Trikks also has a big issue with seeing other lizards or the dog. He huffs so much, and he tried to bite at Pryce through the glass. Wocket and Pryce barely care about anything. Pryce isn't even scared of Snoopy, but then again Snoopy is terrified and keeps a distance. I'll show Pryce and Wocket to each other soon (within sight but out of reach in my hands) and see how they react. I don't think they'll even notice...
