BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

This is what we use, and we really like it. In the past, we always got huge bundles from Creature Traveler, but now they don't seem to carry it....know anything about that, Renee? He keeps saying something about the Softchips being changed by Sri Lanka and that it's better, but a little different and that you have to get it wet once it arrives because they dehumidify it to lighten shipping. But we got some, and it looks more stringy.....and not anything like what they had before.

I believe, however, that you can buy this same stuff at most pet stores—I think it's called Jungle Litter or something....can anyone confirm it...

What ever it is, it sure looks comfy from the look of the occupant.

I use coconut husk in one of my tanks, but its the more finely ground stuff that comes in bricks. I find that its hard for Tuck to burrow in it because it becomes packed down from him walkin on it so much, and it gets in his water dish a lot. The finer stuff is just too messy for me to use again.

On the other hand, Tuck is always shiny because its less dusty than the carefresh I use in the other cages.

So, is this substrate called Softchips where you're from?

Well coco fiber is the looser stuff almost like soil, this is more like husk you should be able to find it in most high quality pet stores. Its basiclly coconuts cut into pieces. Cool. And there haven't been any problems with their eyes getting splinters or anything??

I've been having a hard time getting a hold of Daryl. He's been re-vamping the company and is really busy.

Watson loves it. He prefers it over.. the wooden cedar. He likes both, but most of the time he likes burrowing, and playing around in and out of it... its easy for him to crawl thru it and go in and out. ITs a little dusty but it doesn't get everywhere. It has no smell and its easy to replace. He loves getting all the way to the bottom and checking out the outside from his tank. He likes finding the smallest tightest places in his tank to take his long naps.

Ask around, I thought cedar was not good for a substrate due to something toxic in the resin, nice time your fellas having in his tank though,great lookin photos too.

Yep, never use cedar chips!
